0.11.1.14

0.11.1.10
Nice drawn lower level houses.

0.11.1.8
Numbers in reports corrected, new graphics.

0.11.1.6
More balancing adjustments. The big luxury market only sends one market lady now, that is sufficient anyway. Luxury warehouses can now also store gold. There's a new type of warehouse for metal ore and such, but that's not yet needed by anyone.

Milk production is a bit slower now, so you may need some more cow runs.

Tax income is increased.

Some buildings are marked as deprecated, because they will be removed in a future version, but not before 0.12. So they can be loaded from a save game, but they cannot be built any longer.

0.11.1.4
Bugfix that may cause invalid save games, minor improvements.

0.11.1.2
New map to play on.

0.11.1.0
Balancing changes.

0.11.0.18
Improved reporting of goods production and consumption.

0.11.0.16
Improved overview maps. Bugfix for a race condition between autosave and lastsave, which leaded to truncated autosaves and possibly invalid lastsave.

0.11.0.14
Overview maps for most of the aspects of the game.

0.11.0.12
Adjustments for taxes, fix for market demand determination, fix for warehouses crambling into ruins and not being deleted quickly.

0.11.0.10
Improved goods distribution between warehouses all over the map.

0.11.0.8
Some adjustments and clarification, small fixes.

0.11.0.6
Improved pathfinding for storage walkers, some new tutorial messages.

0.10.0.3
more balancing tweaks, roaming sheep added

0.10.0.2
another fix in the path finder, and a complete overhaul of housing requirements.

0.10.0.1
mini fix for houses, no more assert.

0.10.0.0
builders, many small improvements, more goods.

0.9.6.0
builders, many small improvements, more goods.

0.9.5.10
small fixes, updated graphics, added large map

0.9.5.9
Bugfix: don't build buildings on top of each other.

0.9.5.8
Compress saves, some nicer buildings.

0.9.5.7
Bugfix affecting balancing, much better now. Minimap blinks where severe Problems are.

0.9.5.6
Screenshots work again using Printscreen key, or F4.

0.9.5.5
Add mini map, use VC++ 2010 (means: new runtimes needed). Re-balancing of goods walkers, minor performance improvements.

0.9.5.4
Performance fix, should be much better now if there are many walkers around.

0.9.5.3
Additional overview with numbers of all kinds of buildings and walkers.

0.9.5.2
More bugfixes.

0.9.5.1
One bug fix, one improvement: show some things on the map transparently to make the tile completely visible where the mouse points to.

0.9.5.0
Switch to use Allegro 5 (5.1 to be precise).

0.9.0.0
Now you build cities on maps with resources. Buildings can't be placed everywhere, depending on resources...

0.8.1.0
Added some interactivity: right klick on a building opens a dialog with infos or options, depending on the building and its state.

0.8.0.1
One bugfix for an internal assertion, which caused the game to crash. Another change for the data model.

0.8.0
Storage yards are now fully functional. So 'real' building is possible. Lots of minor changes, improved handling, and extended data model.

0.7.3.1
Added storage yards and distribution, no walkers between storages yet. Many smaller improvements and changes.

0.7.3.0
Added storage yards and distribution, no walkers between storages yet. Many smaller improvements and changes.

0.7.2.1
More bug fixes, pathing and prod walkers. Should be reasonably stable now.

0.7.2.0
Some bug fixes, changed and extended base data model. This means there's more to build and more to care about...

0.7.0.1
Goods are produced and consumes, so this is finally a first playable version of Villages and Cities.

0.5.0
Service walkers are now functional, including path finding and target reservation.

Installer language will be set for the game, too.

0.4.2
Implemented handling of savegames, including delete. More options, and automatic numbering of screenshots and quicksave files.

0.4.1
An important correction regarding the difficulty setting - although not recommended, it's now possible to load and continue with an easy or hard game. The higher version number should have been there somewhat earlier to reflect the amount of difference to the former version 0.3.2.

0.3.3
Added save and load, a message system to keep the player up to date about anything going on in the game, and the second important feature of this game: assignment of workers to workplaces, constrained by certain conditions.

0.3.1
Lots of improvements, more graphics and options. Map attractivity is already functional, next game subsystems are to follow very soon.

0.2.4
A few improvements like custom mouse pointers and more. See the website for details.

0.2.2
Latest version for download and try out. See also the blog entry on my site. I've added a screenshot from this version. Note that most graphics are placeholders and hopefully will be replaced in future versions.

While build menus are implemented, they are not yet complete and drawing the buildings is not finished, so buildings may overlap in undesired ways.

0.0.2
Latest version for download and try out. See also the blog entry on my site. I've added a screenshot from my current wip version. Note that most graphics are placeholders and hopefully will be replaced in future versions.

Public Opinion
Overall Rating: 8.0
  • 8I find I can be very absorbed by this game and want to keep building my cities. Only problem is the gameplay can become a bit repetitive after a while, but fortunately, new features are going to be added.
  • 8I've been coming back to this game every one and a while and I'm glad to see you're still working on it. Its getting nicer and nicer every time I check. Graphics are simple, but do the job. GUI is responsive, the game itself is also enjoyable. Good job!
  • 8Looks very promising. The user interface and game controls were pretty easy. Graphics look great... I hope you continue working on it.
