Hi there,
I was investigating around my canon 400D firmware when I fall on that ticket:
hacking-your-eos-400d-rebel-xti, allowing you to use a bigger variety of ISO, and have a real spot metering function.
I also found a 300D mod, which bring 10D functions to it.
And, lastly, I found the website for canon modded firmwares.
They support a bunch of compact for the moment, and 400D modding is fresh.
I thought it has to be shared, I know some of you are taking photos, and perhaps some have a Canon.
It's functionnality for free !
PS: I tested the 400D trick and it works fine.
]]>Shame on me I have Sony Alpha 100 at my disposal and planning to buy A300 (the A100 was bought by father and I've figured out it would be desirable to have the option to use already owned lenses).
Do you have some info about Canon 1000D a friend of mine has it, so it could be helpfull for him.
]]>Conceivable feature additions with hacking
There are no developers working on this so this is just a hypothetical list of features that may be possible to unlock or enable in the 1000D.
Firmware features available in the 450D:
* Increase continuous RAW fps count to 3.5 fps or more
* Spot metering
* Highlight Tone Priority
* ¿Video Recording?
* Faster shutter speed
* Real time depth of field / hyperfocal calculator
* Live histogram (in live view)
* Live view in auto mode
Now you know you must get involved into firmware hacking, because you like your friend and you also want to unlock as much as possible on a 400D
]]>Shame on him, he said that this is something he'd rather not do.
]]>Fool he is
Anyway, last update from a chdk read yesterday evening: there is a google code page for having the lastest autoexec.bin for the 400D !
]]>I have a Sony A200.
Whilst I'm happy with it, I'm a bit disappointed that there has been no firmware updates, official or unofficial
It's the same "When something works fine, don't touch it" !
