I just bought the collection yesterday for $53! If you like these types of games and haven't yet bought them I can't see it getting any better than this. I love Steam.

I've been wanting to get GTA3 again for months. I've tried to find it and I couldn't. This is really a pretty sweet deal. In store I'd expect to pay $20-30 for each of the 7.

I'm pretty comfortable shooting with a PlayStation controller. I prefer with a mouse, but I can manage just fine with a PlayStation controller. For the record, GTA:SA was a PS2 game that I'm playing on my PS3. GTA4 is coming out in a few months for PS3 and 360 (and probably eventually for PC).

I expect the shooting to be a lot easier on PC, but the driving and camera controls will probably be worse or at least less precise.

If you don't mind the horrible horrible torture that is "aiming with a playstation controller", then you'd probably like the PS version better, I guess. The driving and camera controls are a bit uncomfortable on a PC (though I got used to those very fast [unlike the horrible horrible torture that is "aiming with a playstation controller" {do you see a pattern? }]), since the camera is a bit unruly if you ever decide to move it while driving (which I rarely do), and the driving controls are a bit too sensitive until you get used to them. (in GTA:SA, of course. I can't predict what GTA4 will be like )

Maybe you should decide that "driving is better with a controller and shooting is better with a mouse, therefore I will use both simultaneously"

Ooh! How about getting one of those force-feedback driving wheels and pedals, that's smart use of your money

Console gamers get used to shooting with a controller. A mouse has it's advantages shooting, but a PlayStation controller has advantages driving (and operating a camera while driving) and is still very adequate when shooting.

Typically I use the camera to look ahead of me by shifting the camera above the car. It's extremely useful when you're going uphill and want to know what's head of you (stationary objects, traffic, etc.). I never put hydraulics on my cars because in GTA:SA the hydraulics take over the camera controls (which is the best control scheme possible, but you lose control of the cameras for the most part).

GTA isn't a first-person shooter and the combat isn't as fast paced as one. That said, UT is for n00bs.

Perhaps you haven't been reading, Mr. Obvious... I said that keyboard/mouse is better for fps' and easier for shooters in general. PlayStation controllers work better for driving games (like Driver or GTA) where you need to drive and shoot (and the combat isn't very intense). Anyway, aiming with a PlayStation controller isn't very difficult for a gamer. I have no problem playing SOCOM: US Navy Seals or Rainbow Six: Vegas with a controller. It's just [obviously] not as easy as point-and-shoot (mouse).

Of course somebody with a mouse is going to aim faster than with a controller. I don't think anybody's debating that. The debate is about which of the Wiimote and PlayStation controller is better for a shooter.

Is a Wii controller really comfortable for aiming?
I'm not sure how you use one for aiming (I don't even know anyone that owns a Wii), so my best assumption would be using it in a similar way to "laser guns" in arcades.
If that is really true, then I would guess it is worse than using a mouse, since a mouse gives you the benefit of a steadier hand.
Then again, that benefit stands even if you don't use the Wii controller in that manner, any amount of pointing or waving around is bound to be less steady than a mouse.

Of course, I'm arguing without any solid facts, so feel free to correct me.

Mouse is still the best for speed an accuracy in FPSs. But the Wii is more fun to use. If you're in it to win it, stick with the mouse. But if you're just here to have fun, go with the Wii. That's my opinion.

Incidentally, I recently found out that Valve has suddenly turned on a region locking feature for The Orange Box on Steam. That's a real pain in the arse for a lot of people. A friend of mine recently bought The Orange Box from a local game store, he couldn't play it because it said it was a Russian version or something. He asked the game store about it -- reply attached.

I bought my copy of The Orange Box from the same store. I tried it last night and it was still letting me play, so I guess I'm safe.
