Not IMO. I don't even know why it was since there's still a few things waiting to be done. There's new mixer code waiting to be put in, as well as an Allegro-DX mixer patch that improves conformance, as well as a patch for DIGMID to reduce CPU usage. And too, there was an identified joystick "bug" that nobody's commented on (on AD), as well as talk on how to better handle mouse input in Windows. Some of us were hoping 4.1.14 would've been the last WIP before 4.2, but I doubt it will be if the aforementioned things are still going to be worked on.

Improved MacOS X support justifies the new release, IMO.

As was discussed on the mailinglist, there's no problem in putting out WIPs a little more often than has been the case of late. That said, Allegro 4.2 should be released relatively soon. The stable 4.0 branch does not offer native MacOS X support, which in itself would justify 4.2. As there are other issues to fix (eg, thread safety) too, it may take a little longer.

In the spirit of improving things often and quickly, I don't see why this release is a bad idea ... if something useful has been added, publish it, even if it's not much. It's not like we can run out of version numbers or anything.

I don't mind it... But this isn't really much a minor release if you compare the stuff done on this to the stuff done between 4.1.12 and 4.1.13 or some other version.

As Kitty Cat said, I don't see why they didn't wait a bit longer and throw some more stuff in. If you need a distro released every month, get the CVS snapshot.

Can you try if 4.1.13 works?

Does it say anything else?

And what is the ouput of "make info"?

Also, could you try a debug build, for example like this:

cd allegro

Then when it aborts again, enter "bt", and post the output here.
