IOTD: Java4k Game Contest Entry
Java4k Game Contest Entry
Java4k Game Contest Entry, by nonnus29

This is a shot of my Java4k Game Contest entry "Combat 4k". It's a remake of the Atari 2600 classic game. In this game I used the java Graphics.fillPolygon() method to draw all the polygons. I couldn't fit much gameplay into 4k besides rudimentary enemy movement. I was just happy to get a 3d gamelike thing finished!
Oooo I adore thy look! ^.^ - Ceagon Xylas
Looks just like BZTank. Very nice. - RallyMonkey
CGP: I believe he coded the matrix stuff himself, so he transforms 3d into 2d, and then uses fillPolygon to do the triangle or square to whatever. So technically he did write the 3d functions himself.

Anyway, good work. - William Heatley
Williams got it right; I had coded a triangle/polygon rasterizer but it took alot more byte than a simple api call. The bad part is there's no zbuffering; I sort the quads front to back so ocassionally there's some overlap.

Here's the source. It ain't pretty... - nonnus29
That looks awesome and it gives me some inspiration. - Mark Oates
Nice! :D - Gnatinator
Not bad. Pretty interesting view, though I'd have liked to have seen you write the 3d functions yourself -- That would have been a hack :)

Lots of IOTDs this week I se.e - CGamesPlay
