I think it speaks to the simplicity of A4. I recall someone mentioning A5 was too complicated and a bad design and the poopoo event system and all this business. A4 is a lot simpler. It's easier to just boot up and tinker around with. Maybe that's what drives it. I think the PICO-8 idea is similar to this. It's not practical, it's just really tinkerable.

I think you've hit the nail on the head there. It was great to be able to just throw up an A4 program to try something out. I wonder if it would be possible to get that simplicity on A5, and still being able to dig into the high performance graphics, event system etc if needed?

It's good to know that the community is adapting. Also, maybe A4's popularity is like that of vinyl records or even cassette tapes: A4's got more warmth in its bytes, man.
