Check out our TINS 2022 Submission Laundry Day 2: Operation White WashTen years after the original, our protagonist, Raul the monkey, returns once more to the inside of his laundry machine. His mission: remove all red socks before the white was is ruined. But the machine is still inhabited by the spirit of his house-mate and occasional nemesis, Fole (short for Folencio) the cat. To escape, he must once again beat Fole, who happens to appear dressed up as a shark this time. And can you find all 7 red socks? {"name":"613245","src":"\/\/djungxnpq2nug.cloudfront.net\/image\/cache\/9\/a\/9ab013f2837c371ff21bca32c7385ad8.png","w":802,"h":519,"tn":"\/\/djungxnpq2nug.cloudfront.net\/image\/cache\/9\/a\/9ab013f2837c371ff21bca32c7385ad8"} Entry page: https://tins.amarillion.org/entry/258/ AniCator made the music (which changes when you're underwater!) and Max drew the graphics. Some graphics and code were re-used from the TINS 2012 predecessor. I had a lot of fun making this game! I'm very happy with how the water puzzles turned out, as well as the final boss fight. I had planned to add a post-processing effect to the water, but ran out of time and instead I invoke the bonus rule. Max hand-pixelated three memes for you to enjoy. If you listen carefully to the underwater music, you can make out the Morse code spelling out "TINS 2022", which is fitting because that's what I've been promoting the past couple of months.
A map to help you on your way.

I finally managed to find the shark. Only had one life left, but defeated him on first try I half expected there to be two phases - once you defeat the shark someone would jump out of the shark costume, and you'd have to go and drain the water and fight the real boss... Oh, and I also found 7/7 red socks! The level design reminded me a lot of those platformers I played as a kid where you were expected to draw your own map on paper. I should have tried that, would have made me find the shark a lot faster - I probably ran around the entire level 3 times or so before I started memorizing where the switches are -- |

Yes, I had Metroid (NES) and Duck Tales (NES) in mind when designing the map. Especially Metroid requires paper map drawing. Of course later installments had an on-screen map. So this is a distinctly retro feature... Quote: once you defeat the shark someone would jump out of the shark costume, and you'd have to go and drain the water and fight the real boss... Not a bad idea! {"name":"613254","src":"\/\/djungxnpq2nug.cloudfront.net\/image\/cache\/4\/f\/4f72afd252bb26c2f7e533b229e53fe3.jpg","w":625,"h":468,"tn":"\/\/djungxnpq2nug.cloudfront.net\/image\/cache\/4\/f\/4f72afd252bb26c2f7e533b229e53fe3"} -- |

Kinda tricky to get the hang of the keys, but it's cool that you allow configuration. Kept pressing CTRL when I meant space and space when I meant CTRL, . I managed to collect 6 red socks. I know I needed to raise the water level one more time to move forward but I couldn't find the right switch. Nice game amarillion! I'm not sure it's possible at all to have one default that works for everyone, but we can give it a try. Every time I use a I have to turn off "natural" mouse scrolling. -- |
