Hello mates,

I recently got myself into astro photography. I am a beginner. Tonight, just before the fucking mist came, I finally got something out of my little setup, worth sharing.

Here it is:

Orion:

A bit of Perseus:

A star adventurer with a zwo asiair pro and a zwo 120 mini as a guide, and a canon mark III with a Sigma 150-600. I took the shots from my terrasse, from within the city I live (light & particle pollution ++).

Now it's the morning I clearly see that I'm missing a lot of red. Well. Maybe I'll take out the filter on my old 550D.

And you Bob, are you into astrophoto ?

I've got a nice picture of what I think is a 9 degree halo around the moon and some nice rainbow pictures. I'm into optical phenomenon.

Could someone please tell me the secret of how to make a post with an image actually on the allegro.cc page rather than a link to an image. If so, I'll post some pictures.

I've been doing astrophotography for a few years now. Here are some of my favorites. Be warned, once you're in you're in. Say goodbye to all your money!

Edgar :

I did use tags like yours.

Those three links at the beginning of the post after Thanks were the result.

In other words I did

<img src="blahblah" />

and got

blahblah on the screen.

I downloaded your photo of Jupiter but got a failed message, William. Perhaps it is a file format problem? It is a jpg.

By reading this sig, I, the reader, agree to render my soul to Bob Keane. I, the reader, understand this is a legally binding contract and freely render my soul.

Trying anew :

Jupiter and the moon without blurs.

https://www.allegro.cc/files/attachment/613133

@Edgar plik is a free site where I can upload images which are too large for
email attachments in the sense that they require too much memory for someone viewing
on say some sort of phone or tablet.

Can you suggest a real website I could use for the same purpose?

Edit :

Edit 2 :

Finally got one

I got https://www.allegro.cc/files/attachment/613133 the first time I clicked on 'copy link' from the attachment I uploaded to allegro.cc

and

https://d1cxvcw9gjxu2x.cloudfront.net/attachments/613133

the second time after refreshing.

And you Bob, are you into astrophoto ?

Looking to get my kids into astronomy. I've been wanting to get myself a better setup than just a D80 + long exposure shots.

Great pictures, SSC! I bet that was what Moses saw on Mount Sinai, when God came to him and gave him the tend commandments.

Oh, there He is!

Great pics SCC, starless, isn't it ?
And yeah, you're right. Having a correct rig is a matter of a few k euros, from 1 to way too much X-D
Looks like you have a pretty decent rig yourself, with some filters and all !

Thanks, Johan and Gullradriel. Yes, they are starless. I've invested about $13,000 USD so far and it could be much worse!

You're on a good start though. Your orion is much better than anything I ever got when I started.

Wow, these are really cool! I thought you needed the Hubble to get this kind of detail.

Exposure depends on the spectrum I'm capturing. Oxygen is generally 2 minutes, sulfur is 5, and hydrogen is 4. I aim for at least 9 hours total exposure for each object.
