Hi,
are there any plans to:

  • Backport the shader add-on to the stable branch;

  • Give the possibility to use an existing OpenGL context (as suggested in this (quite old!) thread: https://www.allegro.cc/forums/thread/605430). This would be very useful for Qt/Allegro integration.

The shader addon hasn't existed for awhile now; it's functionality got moved to the core. The most likely thing that will happen is that a new stable version will be released (5.2) which will have the shader support.

In terms of the pre-existing OpenGL context, it's certainly a nice feature, but it's not high priority. Patches would be accepted in this case though!
