I don't see how it's worse than a false alarm delivered via telephone, although the consequences for the target can be much worse nowadays with the prevalence of so-called "no-knock" warrants.

They all watch too much MSNBC... they get ideas.

Another probably worse problem is that SWAT teams are now armed like the military, and the attitudes of those officers can often be as if they are in a war zone, instead of a downtown apartment block or suburb.
