Bobby - Allegro 5 iPhone game

After a huge battle with a very obscure bug, which only Apple Review staff could reproduce, our new game is finally in (or soon will be in some places) the iTunes App Store. I hope to have time this year to port this to Xbox Indie. The game is called Bobby and you can see it here:

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/bobby/id441051812?ls=1&mt=8

Some people on this forum helped out. Thanks go to Oscar Giner, Kris Asick, and OnlineCop. Oscar and Kris designed levels and OnlineCop helped me by testing the game on his iPhone 4.

Did you ever hear back from Valve about Monster 2?

Used P46P46TWH93J.

Really nice game. You could have explained the controls, at first I wasn't sure what to do. Also the controls were a bit hard, but I guess that's just how it is. The game had some slowdows, but that was probably due to my crappy iPhone 3.

I'm interested in making some games for iOS using Allegro too, could you comment about the development proccess? Did you make everything on a pc first then ported it to Mac? Did you use other libraries framework?

I'll buy when I get home.
Amazing how everyone else is procrastinating and you release all those games.

I started with the ios version actually, then made it work on mac/pc. Aftrr that I kept them in sync for a while so level designers could work on it easier. Then I added all od the ios specific stuff, so now it would take a couple hours of work to make it work on mac/pc again. I used BASS for audio in this game.

NOTE: I just completed the Windows version. You can get a demo at http://www.nooskewl.com/content/bobby.

Nice one! Care to share any tips on using Allegro5 to develop for iphone?

Hope your game gets some sales. Make an ipad version, and I'll buy it!

Tip #1: Use SVN (5.1 currently) and fix any bugs as you find them. Add features you need and send in patches, just don't be like me and make platform specifics D:...

Tip #2: I just released the source for one of our free iOS games, Happy-WordZ. You can get it here: http://www.nooskewl.com/content/freeopen-source-software. In all honesty it's not the prettiest code ever, and it needs some updating with the recent changes Elias has made to display orientations, but it might give you some ideas.

Thanks for releasing the source, I'm sure many will appreciate that. Tip #1 raises the bar too far for many of us..

How are your sales? I'd love to get a little perspective from your efforts. Do you use appfigures?

Here's how my apps are doing:

Good game!.

I know you probably did this game while you was taking the breakfast, but I just want to mention this in case you haven't notice it.

Well the "Use 5.1" is the only part of that that's really a requirement. But do report bugs.

edit: Here's a video I made.

Thanks! I like it too. It was done by an indie composer. finds link

Don't go there if you suffer from flashing light induced seizures. Despite the funky site, the music is just awesome.

I used KTFTXNTK6WPL. PN7M6A7AKYHM was taken. Thanks.

Damn! Tthat's the second app I've tried to review and again the store seems to think that I haven't downloaded the app (the other one was a straightforward purchase). >:(

Since this thread is still open I'll use it.

Would anybody be willing to test a PC (Windows) version of the game briefly? Just play around with it for 10 minutes or so? It's version 1.2, you can keep the game when you're done. Just want to make sure there are no bugs I missed or anything before releasing it. I have someone testing the iPhone version already. Would really appreciate it. If you're interested let me know and I'll PM you the link. Thanks.

Here's a video I made.

I love the music.

For some reason it reminds me of Crystal Quest, but without the baddies :)

Test the game out for 10 minutes and you can listen to the ogg any time you want :P.

I'd offer to test a Mac version, but I'm guessing you can do that yourself.
