I can say it initially said a bunch of people I didn't know might be relevant. but there weren't a whole heck of a lot of people on google+ at the time, so I think it bumped up the popular users to just under people I actually knew. It did a rather good job of finding people I did know. -- |

O_o I know several people who would specify "other" as their gender; and in fact, many people get a bit upset if there isn't an "other" option, because they don't think either of the two standard options match them. (I actually chose "other" for myself, but that's only because there isn't an option to not make gender public information.) ----------- |

Eunuch: yes. There are probably some people like this who would like to select 'other'. Also transgender people, and people with genetic abnormalities which affect their gender. ----------- |

And who's Michael Swiger? REVISION: And Brandon McCaig? Maybe I should change my name to my normal one here so others don't have this issue ... -- |

You can add nicknames to your profile under the Other names option. And how can you not know who these people are, especially when they post in this very thread? |

Silly me, and I was making a point of reading everyone's profile when they made a new post, too ... Drawing the line for new Google+ buddies until the thing shows some service of worth. Right now my "wall" is just looking like Allegro.CC 2.0 with a FaceBook style sheet. -- |

I've got "normal" people from university starting to add me, so there must be some non-nerd movement going on. |

If everyone who is on Google+ already, invited only one new person per day and assuming they register immediately and start doing the same on the next day and assuming the avalanche started with just one account, how many days in total would it take until each and every person on this planet was on Google+? And why does it not grow that fast in reality? --- 0xDB | @dennisbusch_de --- |

Once Google+ is completely open, it could theoretically become as big (in terms of "active" user accounts) as Facebook overnight. However, that's not bound to happen, as most people are satisfied with Facebook and won't understand the point or nuances of Google+ immediately. I assume that Facebook and Google+ will happily co-exist for a while, with Google+ being used primarily by people who prefer public social sites. |

I've just added a bunch of you guys. Matt said: People probably aren't inviting very many of their non-tech friends, and if they do, those non-techies are probably not apt to bother signing up for now. Seconded. As for now, I only have one non-techie friend. "Code is like shit - it only smells if it is not yours" |

Dennis said: how many days in total would it take until each and every person on this planet was on Google+? Infinite time, for I wouldn't join. To me, Google is just the search engine (now more crappy with every update). And I think there's a lots of people thinking the same way. I use gmail, and have a YouTube account to see the "inappropriate" videos. I'd guess I sign on to one or the other about once a week, and log off within 10 minutes. They all watch too much MSNBC... they get ideas. |

What about all the websites using google analytics to send everything you do back to google, no matter whether you use their search or not? Quote: Besides playing Angry birds, I don't see any reason in using an android phone.
Delete angry birds then install dosbox and snes9x and play games which are actually good -- |

I read somewhere that if one person told everyone they have ever formally met, and those people did the same, it would take only 6 recursions until everyone on the planet knew about it.

I was lurking on some A.cc profiles and noticed a couple of pictures of hot chicks. I checked out one of their profiles out of curiosity Elias said:

QFT. It's really very scary how many sites are doing this. Install NoScript and find out!
