Because, as far as I can tell, we haven't had one in a while. Last one I remember was this and before that this. Also, if you remember other doodle threads, please link them here as I'm trying to find them all. I drew some crappy pics on my ipad when I got a stylus recently: {"name":"ink.jpg","src":"\/\/djungxnpq2nug.cloudfront.net\/image\/cache\/7\/3\/73adc31f1aa1cc39fd2567364ca2e52b.jpg","w":1003,"h":1292,"tn":"\/\/djungxnpq2nug.cloudfront.net\/image\/cache\/7\/3\/73adc31f1aa1cc39fd2567364ca2e52b"} {"name":"ink-1.jpg","src":"\/\/djungxnpq2nug.cloudfront.net\/image\/cache\/f\/5\/f55c7f74077b86329b5beebc6d377310.jpg","w":961,"h":1231,"tn":"\/\/djungxnpq2nug.cloudfront.net\/image\/cache\/f\/5\/f55c7f74077b86329b5beebc6d377310"}

I really like that one William, reminds me of the style in the Gobliiins games. Is there any particular story to the characters? Do they have names? What's their relation to each other? And what about the secretive guy with the hat? Trent Gamblin said: I drew some crappy pics on my ipad when I got a stylus recently Well, the second one is really crappy but that just might be due to the chosen subject (heh, it feels like it's been just yesterday when we had fun bashing on Sev on IRC although it has probably been years since I last did that). Not sure if you want any crits on the first one but the text on the cup seems to be jumping out of its surface (it should wrap around in proper perspective). Other than that it's a huge step forward from flat stick figures. edit: --- 0xDB | @dennisbusch_de --- |

And what about the secretive guy with the hat? no story that I've come with yet I'm afraid. Names not thought about. Not sure about their relation. I'll have to give it some thought. Sorry I can't be more helpful. The guy with the hat :- I think he's someone from their past come back for some unsavoury reason

Why are you all able to be such artists? The fartest I get is thinking out what to draw... In my mind, it looks beautiful, but as soon as I start drawing, every line gets crappy ._. " There are plenty of wonderful ideas in The Bible, but God isn't one of them." - Derezo |

Here's a cherry tree I did the other day (in Inkscape + PS): {"name":"604198","src":"\/\/djungxnpq2nug.cloudfront.net\/image\/cache\/b\/6\/b641259381419e2d172c5aba356afeac.png","w":800,"h":400,"tn":"\/\/djungxnpq2nug.cloudfront.net\/image\/cache\/b\/6\/b641259381419e2d172c5aba356afeac"}

I drew a little cartoon to add, but my attachments key is missing. When I added this post, the screen had one before the image completed, but it disappeared. I guess I'm not allowed to add attachments. For shame, Matthew, and after I convinced my brother to name his first son after you. By reading this sig, I, the reader, agree to render my soul to Bob Keane. I, the reader, understand this is a legally binding contract and freely render my soul. |

William Labbett said: I'll have to give it some thought. You don't have to do anything and there's nothing to be sorry about. The drawing can very well just stand for itself and every viewer will have their own story in mind looking at it. I was just curious whether there was an "official" story to it. Mark Oates said: Wuh?! Wai... but you are the Creator! There must be a grand purpose for what You have created and it must have something to do with the characters and how important they are! Is that sarcasm or bitter cynicism? I wasn't asking because I think there needs to be a purpose/meaning to everything but just out of curiosity. Sevalecan said: And yes, DB, you have not been in IRC for quite some time. I might have more time soon and then will be back on IRC more often, I hope. Johan Halmén said: Search further... Nice! J-Gamer said: Why are you all able to be such artists? The fartest I get is thinking out what to draw... In my mind, it looks beautiful, but as soon as I start drawing, every line gets crappy ._. Well, I do not personally consider myself to be an able artist (still intend to become one though (meanwhile I think I'm doing ok)) but my advice would be this: practice. Arvidsson said: Because they practice. No way! Capable artists fell out of their mothers wombs like capable programmers fell out of theirs, already with 5+ years of programming practice and a huge library of concepts and techniques in their head from the start. Practice... hah, lies! James Lohr said: Here's a cherry tree I did the other day Sweet. Looks like it should be possible to write a generator algorithm for creating such trees. Neil Black said: It's true. I used to be really crappy at drawing. Then I practiced. Now I'm just kind of crappy. If you practice very hard, you may even become just crappy. But seriously, practice is the key (and theory doesn't hurt either). --- --- 0xDB | @dennisbusch_de --- |
