Not really doodles (considering the amount of time spent being much too long) but I don't want to start a new thread. {"name":"604735","src":"\/\/djungxnpq2nug.cloudfront.net\/image\/cache\/b\/a\/ba5c6d1d91aeaa3c05edefb8d12ffdb4.png","w":354,"h":125,"tn":"\/\/djungxnpq2nug.cloudfront.net\/image\/cache\/b\/a\/ba5c6d1d91aeaa3c05edefb8d12ffdb4"} {"name":"604733","src":"\/\/djungxnpq2nug.cloudfront.net\/image\/cache\/3\/0\/301d6462653c6e8a2d4e09908b891c81.png","w":640,"h":480,"tn":"\/\/djungxnpq2nug.cloudfront.net\/image\/cache\/3\/0\/301d6462653c6e8a2d4e09908b891c81"} {"name":"604734","src":"\/\/djungxnpq2nug.cloudfront.net\/image\/cache\/a\/b\/ab44b9490a7b9631c4e315d5b2a9eba3.png","w":640,"h":480,"tn":"\/\/djungxnpq2nug.cloudfront.net\/image\/cache\/a\/b\/ab44b9490a7b9631c4e315d5b2a9eba3"} --- 0xDB | @dennisbusch_de --- |

Dennis! that's great! but what is this? I mean is a special art technique?, how did you come with this idea? which software did you use to place the tiles?, did you choose the palette? please explain, I find the end result really amazing, specially the second image, is just great! [edit] Is there a process video available of this two paints? ____ "The unlimited potential has been replaced by the concrete reality of what I programmed today." - Jordan Mechner. |

Thank you guys. @Paul: How I came up with the idea? No clue but my best guess is that I was subconsciously inspired by C64 artworks based on the alternate charset of that machine (which had some shapes similar to my tiles). The software used to place the tiles is cosmigo Pro Motion. I did not use its tile painting mode though but the grid option to lock nine custom brushes(the tiles) to the three different grids and placed them on a single layer (often several tiles on top of each other to fake the illusion of an unrestricted number of layers). The palette is based on the watercolors I had used in recent paintings and on the C64 palette(that's what the three gray shades are based upon). There is a progress GIF for each (in the first one I changed some of the colors and the palette afterwards): --- 0xDB | @dennisbusch_de --- |

I don't know if Dennis has an account, but I do : They're not exactly doodles though - most is digital art created by a program I wrote, and the rest is photography and scans. @Dennis: Those are gorgeous! Absolutely gorgeous. I actually had an idea to try to draw something using a process just like what you said, but never took the time to do anything. They vaguely remind me of this album cover: -------------------------------------------------- My blog: http://joshuadover.tumblr.com |

Not really a doodle any more, but I wanted to show off where I got to with my mammoth. {"name":"604740","src":"\/\/djungxnpq2nug.cloudfront.net\/image\/cache\/4\/4\/4433e0101dc0e51f5b1b7874d948bb68.png","w":1200,"h":977,"tn":"\/\/djungxnpq2nug.cloudfront.net\/image\/cache\/4\/4\/4433e0101dc0e51f5b1b7874d948bb68"}

Great scene James. I especially like all the detail and the shadows of the trees and that hidden hunter waiting for the unsuspecting mammoths in anticipation gives it a feeling of suspense. --- 0xDB | @dennisbusch_de --- |

Well, the far mammoth has spotted him, so he's a dead hunter.

Exactly. Videogames like Frogger (and its countless clones) and Pitfall have established alligator stepping as a valid and safe way to cross liquid obstacles such as rivers and lakes. --- 0xDB | @dennisbusch_de --- |

A Heider-Simmel doodle? -- |

No, I was just bored and uninspired but still wanted to draw something so I put down basic shapes, added some human features and decided they are two new races with a burning hate for each other. (thanks for dropping the Heider-Simmel names though, which lead to some interesting articles on the web) {"name":"604752","src":"\/\/djungxnpq2nug.cloudfront.net\/image\/cache\/a\/4\/a4c68fffa7e7060c055f6b5ed46093f6.png","w":988,"h":485,"tn":"\/\/djungxnpq2nug.cloudfront.net\/image\/cache\/a\/4\/a4c68fffa7e7060c055f6b5ed46093f6"} --- 0xDB | @dennisbusch_de --- |
