I'm got bored so I took a pic of my current desk layout. Thought I'd share. {"name":"desk_2-28-09.png","src":"\/\/djungxnpq2nug.cloudfront.net\/image\/cache\/a\/1\/a1c6b89b39fe01ee56407fe8b4c5fe9d.png","w":1280,"h":960,"tn":"\/\/djungxnpq2nug.cloudfront.net\/image\/cache\/a\/1\/a1c6b89b39fe01ee56407fe8b4c5fe9d"} What you see is: |

Gnolam: I know... I need to get a new one. Its actually from recent spill that claimed the life of a MX1000 laser mouse. BAF: Its hard not to be mono-branded when you can get everything for absurdly cheap. The LCD only cost me $50 and the laptop technically free (By technically, I mean I paid $200 for my original Inspiron 1505 and have been getting an free upgrade every time a new model comes out. ) |

Ya that thing is incredible. I use it for drawing when I don't feel like sitting at my desk. It's got a touchscreen... I've even done a fair bit of programming on it, usually typing with two thumbs.

Big computer desks are awesome. I recently got a big white desk, the kind you might find in a high-school art class. Instead of a mouse pad, I lightly sanded the top to give it a texture that the mouse laser to pickup. Also since it's white and has a little texture, I can write notes on it and I have less random pieces of paper laying around. -- |

The only interesting bit, and even then only if you're into that sort of thing, and if you are then I've probably already mentioned it to you: http://www.allegro.cc/files/attachment/597901 [My site] [Tetrominoes] |

I don't see what's so bad about Vista that I would spend hours hacking a server OS into behaving like Vista just because it isn't Vista. |

Nice M spacesaver. It's even an ANSI model... cool. I'll see you and raise you: {"name":"kbd_m13.jpg","src":"\/\/djungxnpq2nug.cloudfront.net\/image\/cache\/5\/7\/57ec2afe75127178a6a59af50fcfac22.jpg","w":400,"h":188,"tn":"\/\/djungxnpq2nug.cloudfront.net\/image\/cache\/5\/7\/57ec2afe75127178a6a59af50fcfac22"} {"name":"kbd_ind.jpg","src":"\/\/djungxnpq2nug.cloudfront.net\/image\/cache\/2\/5\/25c2e900261a756380924243570ffe71.jpg","w":400,"h":189,"tn":"\/\/djungxnpq2nug.cloudfront.net\/image\/cache\/2\/5\/25c2e900261a756380924243570ffe71"} Plus about 8 more that I don't have decent pics of Oddly, I don't have a spacesaver. --> |

Having gone to specific effort to source that one and a suitable USB converter, I have subsequently come into possession of a full size UK model, with replaceable key caps (the space saver is one of the ones that doesn't). However, the way these things are built, I'm pretty sure that both will probably outlive me. Which is lucky, because they're really a lot rarer here in the UK than in the US. There are currently zero listed on ebay.co.uk, versus 50-ish on ebay.com... EDIT: cats are better than keyboards though. EDIT2: Hey! They have the date of manufacture printed on the bottom! My Model M will enjoy its 16th birthday in nine days. [My site] [Tetrominoes] |

Server was free for me via DreamSpark, and it's basically Vista with everything turned off by default, so I just turn on what I actually want/need -- no hacking required. The fact that it's "not Vista" is just a bonus. --- |
