You'll need some environment variables setup, first of all. MINGDIR=C:\mingw I think I've also needed to use: UNIX_TOOLS=1 (or something like that) so it would use the built-in "copy" instead of trying to run "copy.exe" and not finding it. On Win9x, this can be put in your c:\autoexec.bat file. In XP and Vista, you can go to System Properties, click the Advanced tab, then "Environment Variables" button near the bottom-left. The top half is for your current user login only, the bottom half affects everyone who logs onto the computer (all users). Also make sure that somewhere in your PATH environment, you have PATH=C:\mingw\bin in it.

Post a transcript of the errors you get when running mingw32-make. Environment setup from a command line : set MINGDIR=c:\mingw set PATH=c:\mingw\bin;%PATH% cd /d c:\mingw\allegro fix.bat mingw32 mingw32-make mingw32-make install Look at the text file mingw32.txt in the c:\mingw\allegro\docs\build\ folder. Your path is most likely incorrect. Post a transcript of these commands from the command line and we can see what's wrong : cd /d c:\mingw\bin dir set

Go to the command prompt's properties and turn Quick Edit on. Then select the text you want to copy with the left mouse button and right clcik once it's been selected to copy it.

If you're in Windows, it's not DOS but a command line interpreter that simulates DOS. To copy the contents of the console : (On the window bar) Right click, edit->select_all (On the window bar) Right click, edit->copy

Your PATH environment variable is set incorrectly. Close the console and open a new instance of it. Don't use spaces between the sub directories and make sure to use a semi-colon at the end of the directory for d:\mingw\bin; when you add it to your path. From there type : set MINGDIR=d:\mingw set PATH=d:\mingw\bin;%PATH% cd /d d:\mingw\allegro fix.bat mingw32 mingw32-make mingw32-make install

The easiest way to compile from the command line is to use a batch script that sets up your environment and have it run when you open the command console. First write the script - SetupMinGW.bat set MINGDIR=d:\mingw set PATH=d:\mingw\bin;%PATH%
Create a new shortcut to your command line and put it on your desktop / quick launch bar / wherever you prefer it. /k path_to_startup_script\SetupMinGW.bat and click okay. Now when you click on the new shortcut your script will be run and your environment setup to compile with MinGW. Quote: That i must write. But wll I have to write any folder in front of it ? If you compile from the directory the files are in then you won't need to use the full path to the files. If you need to add a directory to the include file search directory list use the compiler flag -I. If you need to add a search directory for library files to link against, use the -L flag.
