This sign is up because of the trains that whizz through the station without stopping.The kicker is that the only trains this applies to are Virgin ones And one of my favourites: -- |

Not a photo but still funny: Not even an image. But it is image related and amusing. Go to another site (it doesn't work well with A.cc). Clear your address bar and past the following code in it(then hit enter): (I take no credit for the code, it's not by me) javascript:R=0; x1=.1; y1=.05; x2=.25; y2=.24; x3=1.6; y3=.24; x4=300; y4=200; x5=300; y5=200; DI=document.images; DIL=DI.length; function A(){for(i=0; i-DIL; i++){DIS=DI[ i ].style; DIS.position='absolute'; DIS.left=Math.sin(R*x1+i*x2+x3)*x4+x5; DIS.top=Math.cos(R*y1+i*y2+y3)*y4+y5}R++}setInterval('A()',5); void(0);

I happened to try that javascript on Google first, it was pretty awesome! But the next 6 bookmarked sites I tried didn't do well either. They all watch too much MSNBC... they get ideas. |

I thought the last one was hilarious. It certainly reinforces what they say about Americans and world geography.

My world geography knowledge is bad. I knew what was out of place in the second map, but in the first I wasn't sure. I can tell you what continents are where and what countries are in what continents, but I have trouble placing specific countries in their proper place. My geography is not much better, If you ask me where is some state in africa I wont know, but if I'm going to draw a map I'll first look at how it should look like. It's just important to know that you dont know, whis as you can see CNN doesnt. --- |

Quote: What's wrong with the red light one? I just found it funny. It's just like they don't know traffic lights in GB. Maybe I missed something, but it was funny from my point of wiev. --- |

Richard said: What's wrong with the red light one? I don't really see anything funny about it either. Its used when there are road works and temporary traffic lights in place. It seems quite sensible as in most cases where this is seen, on lane of the road is cut off and the road narrowed. The sign is there so that waiting vehicles leave enough space for the cars moving the other way. The reason for the sign is a) there isn't usually traffic lights there and b) the traffic light might not be exactly where the car should wait and there aren't any road markings for temporarary lights etc. ---- |

The red light photograph isn't very funny. But I think the joke is that it's on a footpath. You know, so you'll have people waiting on the pavement?

Quote: But I think the joke is that it's on a footpath. You know, so you'll have people waiting on the pavement? I thought that was intentional. I assumed that either some sort of construction was taking part on the foot path, or that construction vehicles may be going from the road to a property via the footpath ahead. And since pedestrians aren't used to stopping at red lights on the footpath, having a sign makes some sense. I've seen similar situations where car-park buildings flash lights and chime when a car is about to exit them (they even have similar signs).

I thought "wait here when the red light is on" meant when the lady had her red light turned on....well you KNOW about the RED LIGHT DISTRICT....Hehehe... Also, with the train photo....I'd get close to the platform if I could get "sucked off"!::);D -- |

It could be just me, but I L0L whenever I see the 'no road markings for _ miles' sign posts that don't put the number in the gap. Neil. wii:0356-1384-6687-2022, kart:3308-4806-6002. XBOX:chucklepie |

Don Freeman said: about the RED LIGHT DISTRICT That's the first thought that popped into my mind too, and I found it ironic considering the reasonably decent looking houses in the photo. I didn't even look at the names for the surrounding countries, so I wasn't sure what was wrong with the first one at first, for the second one I thought it a bit dubious that the caption said "Romania" and the map showed the Czech Republic. Didn't even look at Ger^H^H^HIraq at first... |
