Someone here uses whatsapp? wouldn't be cool to have a whatsapp group? What is the limit of a whatsapp group??? Hmm...
Stupid question: what's a "whatsapp"? That's a phone app, right?
Jesus Christ no kidding!?
I have a really crummy phone with no data, so I don't use many apps.
My life is apps.
A single group can hold up to 256 people at a time. With the creator the first admin. He can add people manually by phone numbers and also allow some sort of self-service addition to the group by use of a Group URL. Anyone with this URL can add herself to the chat.
Any benefit to using WhatsApp over something like Skype, Discord, etc?
I wouldn't mind Discord actually.
I refuse to install apps on my phone.
Discord would be nice.
Whatsapp doesn't support Windows 7 (or tablets), so it doesn't support me.
Discord
Didn't know about Discord... Gonna try it.
We need to get ML to make us an A.cc hosted chat >.<
It's called #allegro.
IRC is the future!
... though I would also like a libre Skype replacement. Apparently, the FSF has agreed for a decade or so
. Ekiga fits the bill for PC but doesn't support phones yet. It seems the Snowden-endorsed Open Whisper Systems has a desktop Chrome app companion to their mobile app, Signal... Perhaps that's the best option.
WhatsApp is proprietary and, while I'm sure it's very good, is simply not an option I am willing to consider.
Edit: Linphone shows great promise (and I am always on the lookout for more "catastrophic" software).
It'd be interesting to hear what you godless heathens sound like, on Discord.
All in favor of Discord say "aye"?
Aye!
IRC is the future!
It is! I use it almost daily for years and I've even created an #allegro channel in the network I use... but I'm alone.
I'm clearly in support already. =D
Aye!
Discord also supports TEXT chat, by the way.
You should totally do a Discord. It's fantastic.
It's called #allegro.
I thought something hosted on a.cc.. Oh well, IRC is good enough I guess.
What network? Freenode?
I guess..
