Allegro on Raspberry Pi (with game)
Trent Gamblin

Last night I committed a Raspberry Pi port to Allegro git. If anybody has a Pi it would be nice to see how/if it works for you.

I also compiled my game Monster RPG 2 for Pi. If anyone is willing to test it and report back that would be nice too. Here it is. More info about the game can be found at http://www.monster-rpg.com.

Thanks.

Awesome! Maybe I should really buy a Raspbery PI now. :)

MiquelFire

I'm too lazy to bring it out. Maybe over the weekend.

That's so cool!

Now I have a reason to get a Pi and a reason to learn A5 :D

I just wonder how well the Pi would handle my USB NES Controller adapter.

Assuming linux has a driver, it should work just fine.

Well the beta I linked is pretty bad I noticed after playing a bit tonight. Well, not really bad, but one particular thing (pixel effects) are extremely slow, and there are a number of spells using them. I'm going to finish my playthrough and fix everything up then release it. After that I have a big list of improvements to make on all platforms so I'll do that and then release the final feature release of the game. After that it'll just be bugfixes/bitrot updates.

Time to get a $25 retro gaming rig ;D

I'm thinking of seeing what Mindcraft is all about now that they're doing a Pi port (never played any other version.)

The pi port is a different game. It's a port of the Pocket Edition with a few changes (like modability, I assume built in scripting?)

Nice work Trent! I just got my Rapsberry so I would be happy to see how your port is working.

Yodhe23

I have both the 256Mb and 512Mb versions so I will give it a go over the weekend on both of them.

Well done on the port, as it is something I hope to use one day soon(ish).

I updated the link in the OP to beta 2. Should be good through at least half of the game.

EDIT: About to update it again with the link to the first stable release for Pi.

Must. Resist. Urge. To. Buy. Rasp-berry. Pi.
Should any of the Linuxes for the Pi work? Which distro did you use?

Rasp-berry Pi is interesting, but I'm not getting any urge to buy it. Guess I'm just odd ??? :/.

I used Raspbian. I think anything will work if you compile it yourself.

weapon_S

Well you've answered part of my (intended) question. :-X What I wanted to ask is whether Allegro should compile on all Linuxes on the Raspberry.
I'd go for Raspbian myself, so for me personally a non-issue >_>
