What's with the Internet Archive?
kenmasters1976

I probably don't have to tell you how much of a fan of Temporal I am. I still recommend it whenever I have a chance so when the official website became inaccessible I used an old version of it in the Internet Archive to provide a download link. Yes, there was a number of archived copies in the Internet Archive; now, however, it says that the Page cannot be crawled or displayed due to robots.txt so when the page is dead and the domain on sale you also can't see older versions of it! doesn't that kill the very basic idea of having an internet archive at all?.

Well, rant apart, I'm now uploading the latest version of the game to my Google drive since even on the Depot page the author didn't provide a download link.

A quick google for "renboy temporal game" revealed this mirror:

I haven't tested if their download actually works. :P

To be honest, it sounds like a bug - they didn't deliberately design it that way. Have you tried contacting them and suggesting the improvement? :)

Thanks Dennis. The download link works, it's not the latest version but it doesn't really make that much of a difference now that the site is down.

Hmm, yeah, could be. I'll see if there's a way to contact them. Thanks.

Robots.txt is a mechanism used by websites to declare that they don't want to be mirrored/archived/etc. in any automated fashion. I've used at lease one command line utility that creates a local mirror of a website that honors this, I can't remember if it had the option to override it.

Thomas Fjellstrom

They do honor robots.txt on purpose. But I'm not sure they can account for sites that have been recently locked down by a different owner.

Matthew Leverton

If you provide a link to the game, I will attach it to the Depot page.

kenmasters1976

Thanks Matthew, that would be nice.

I uploaded the latest version here hoping that people would know that they have to download the .zip and not just the .exe (I don't get the Google Docs format for uploaded .zip files). I don't know of any other place hosting the latest version.

I put up a copy on my site. Here is the link.

Thanks. Matthew already put a copy on the Depot page of the game, too.
