Hope everyone enjoys it! I should be able to try everyone else's entries out next weekend
I would love to try it out, but I seem to miss a GCC runtime DLL, libgcc_s_dw2-1.dll. I'm at work now, but when I get home I can probably try to compile it myself.
Other people keep stealing my innovation right in front of my face.
If anyone can do a Mac build, I'll give it a shot.
Hey! The readme clearly said you shouldn't name your entry SpeedHack 2011.
Just kidding. Can't wait to try it!.

I know, and my blog says "Am I disqualified yet?"

sh2011.exe - System Error

The program can't start because libgcc_s_dw2-1.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

I'm using MSVC, are you expecting everyone to include gcc?
Actually I'm expecting my MinGW installation to be sensible, like in the good old days, and actually only rely on the libraries that come with Windows.
I have to rush off - would anyone else be kind enough to compile a Windows version that isn't rubbish for me?
Thanks in advance
[EDIT]
Matthew, is it deliberate that I can't edit my first post in the thread? I wanted to highlight the issue with the Windows build and advise people to scroll down and see if there's a fix.

You should be able to now... a little off-by-one logic going on.
Now the name makes sense!. Very SpeedHack-esque. I'm always beaten, just like in real life.
Other people keep stealing my innovation right in front of my face.
You mean the Allegro propaganda? The more the better, don't you think?.
For those running on Windows:
Download these two dlls, put them in the folder along with the .exe and it should
work.
At least it did for me
Interesting game, but the gameplay feels a bit... weird. Let me have another few goes at it and see if I get more used to it.
[edit]
Yeah, I stand by what I said. The game is interesting, especially the main idea. Implementation was very good (of game design, I mean; technically I think is is outstanding), however, I find it too random (I know it was a rule, but still) to control your speed. Mostly, you have to hope for the right perturbation on the grid to move you faster, or else everyone gets to stuff before you do. Also, I have a hard time finding content. Thenagain, it sort of IS like that in real Speedhacks x)
Thanks for the DLLs and the comments
Thanks to Todd too for sharing the Allegro love beyond the x8- oh wait
Hey this is cool! And the warped floor is something else! I also like all the different meters, like the one at the top right
I, too, was confused by the title, but hey, it makes sense.
Right, I've updated the Windows zip with a new exe, compiled with the flags that Matthew suggested in his blog post here
- hopefully it won't depend on those DLLs any more.
Thanks Mark
And Matthew for fixing the edit bug
Very meta.
"I" managed to get top 3 for best genre, technical and artistic.
I was controlling Dustin.

Haha, nice one Bruce! Definitely a fun little game. I tend to always fall short on innovation, it's almost too real!
That was pretty fun to experience, and well done for such a short competition.
During a play, the ground moved in such way that as I was moving left, I sudden went flying to the right. Basically, if I was recording my playing, there would be a frame with no sky and ground, then nothing but sky after that.

I did see me however.
Working fine. The gameplay is a little hard and fussy, even if the 3D moving thing is shinny.

More like the other participants stealing the innovation icons in front of my face when I was just about to get them.
Warning! Post phrased as a bunch of weirdly/not connected sentences:
Cute and interesting. I think just making it move x1.5 as fast would make it 4x as fun
I liked the concept and it looks very nice.
It can get frustrating when a lot of players are bunched on you and steal all your stuff.
I managed to win

The only time I saw my name mentioned was when I lost my connection to the internet :S I never won anything in my few playthroughs and I don't recall even seeing myself
Yea, the first two times I played, I only saw my name because I dropped out for some reason or another.
