Using characters "ñ" "Ñ" and "¿" With Allegro is possible?
AMCerasoli

Well the entire question is on the tittle...

I can't do this...

al_draw_text(pregunta,al_map_rgb(255,255,255), 100, 100, 0, "Mi amigo Toño ¿donde esta?" );

EDIT!!! SORRY I FOUND ANOTHER TOPIC WITH THE SAME PROBLEM... I THOUGHT NO ONE HAD THIS PROBLEM CUZ ALMOST EVERYONE USING ALLEGRO COME FOR NORTH AMERICA... SO THIS TOPIC MUST BE IMMEDIATELY DELETED!!!

YOU CAN WATCH THIS!

Topic 2

EDIT!!! I SOLVED THE PROBLEM IN CODE::BLOCK BY CHANGING THE "ENCODING" OPTION...

THAT'S EVERYTHING I DID AND NOW I CAN USE THE WORDS ñ Ñ AND OTHERS WITH JUST TYPE IT LIKE ANOTHER LETTER... I DON'T KNOW IF THE PROGRAM IS GOING TO WORK ON ANOTHER COMPUTER...

It's because Allegro wants a UTF-8 encoded string whereas those characters might be WCHAR or something, make sure it is UTF-8 and all will work :)

Well personally speaking, I am not North American, I am sure that the rest of the non North American community out number them. Even in North America, the speak a mixture of languages, which include Spanish.

IIRC, the general consensus is that the majority of A.cc members are from Europe. I'm not sure if this is assumed or actually proven. Or maybe it has changed in the past few years. There are certainly enough non-English speakers though to warrant a Unicode discussion. In fact, even knowing only English, I personally would like the ability to enter in any worldly language into my programs (I haven't figured this bit out yet though).

torhu

128 characters ought to be enough for anybody.

tobing

Chinese needs more than 128. And Chinese people outnumbers most others as well...

My guess was always that most of this community halves into US and Europe, and there are a few from other places. Somewhere there's a map with dots whee allegroids live...

Karadoc ~~

I'm pretty sure torhu was joking. It's a Bill Gates reference. (or rather, a reference to an unfounded Bill Gates rumour)

Any language without a concise alphabet should just be made illegal. >:(

Any language without a concise alphabet should just be made illegal

Next, you'll be saying ICANN will be allowing multi-lingual web addresses.

AMCerasoli

Hmmm nice... Hey Matthew why you don't change the survey of "The winner of the 2010 World Cup will be..." for "From which country are you using allegro?" USA Germany France Spain UK Italy .... Well or might be North America, South America, Europe, Asia... Since the documentation almost exclusive only in English we could deduce what kind of countries have the best probabilities of being using this library... :o

Timorg

That only suggests what language people are willing to write documentation in. I am sure if you are willing to translate the install instructions into other languages, they will take find a home on the wiki.

AMCerasoli

Well it could suggest everything.. Cuz I have on my own web page the installation of Allegro 5 (cerebrospain.com/allegro) and I did it in Spanish and isn't on Wiki... So if you for example read in English you could translate it to Spanish and make a tutorial... And Spaniards someway are going to use this library more than other countries... Cuz I think that if you're from Germany for example and you create a tutorial you could create it both in English and in German...

Neil Walker

That looks evenly spread. Let's have a fight. Americas vs. rest of the world.

AMCerasoli

When you say "The rest of the World" I think you're trying to say Europe Right? Cuz for the rest of the planet Allegro practically doesn't exist ahahahahaha ;D;D;D

Vanneto

Well a lot of Allegro users don't register on the forums. And even if they do they never post... And even if they do post they probably didn't set their location on the map.

Check out the number of allegroites marked in Australia, and compare that to the number marked near New York City. The population of NYC is pretty close to the population of all of Australia. So based on that, I'd say that Allegro is strongly represented in Australia. :)

I'm registered and I'm posinf on a.cc, but I'm not on this map.

You have to add yourself to it if you want to be on it. use the "set my spot" button to do so.

Thanks for the info.
