Congratulations Matthew for having more than 10,000 registered members!
I want to be friends with the famous Mr. Ten Thousand
I believe it is yipinx from the Netherlands. Say hello, yipinx!
Pete
we should make a big flashy banner for him that says "YOUR THE 10000th MEMBER CLICK HERE NOW!"
Is that why the server was down earlier, Matthew running out of bounds
There's someone missing. betpet is #9,998, psoplayer is #10,001 and there's only one inbetween and that is yipinx, but he (or she ) hasn't posted yet, so at least I can't figure out his number. Anyway, Goalie Ca guessed the nearest date.
9999 is bilordual.

http://www.allegro.cc/members/id/10000 -> yipinx
URLs can be formed by hand as well.
I think Matthew should treat
So there was no party! Or no one told me
Anyway, my prediction in April was not very far from right. So here's a new. The obvious reason why there was no party is that Matthew waits for member no. 0x4000. And that should be around 21st of September, 2013.
http://www.allegro.cc/files/attachment/596014
The chart shows when members #1000, #2000, #3000 ... #10000 have joined. It is almost linear. So the prediction might be accurate.
[edit]
Yes, #3000 is missing, couldn't find him.
Once allegro5 hits the shops, the growth will be astronomical, so your linear extrapolation may not be accurate
Shops?
Of course! You think we'd let people have this kind of power for free?
Also, because nobody else said it yet:
Hey, Leverton, what's the database say about the user count?
IT'S OVER TEN THOUSAAAAAAAAAND!!!
Kibiz0r, I think people may have lost interest in that meme about 1000 users ago. :p
Memes don't die. They just become retro.
I want to know how big is the active user part on these 10000...
About 20.
Meh, I was thinking around 50 !
Dear Matthew, a lil' SQL request for us to know ?
Sadly, the game releases do not reflect the amount of 10,000 registered members...
Well it's nothing easier than to count the active members.
Sadly, the game releases do not reflect the amount of 10,000 registered members...
Yes, same applies for number of active members. I ask myself a question - why those people register, when most of the time they won't post.
I remember that in those days my member ID wasn't pristine, that I joined because I needed some help - of course - but then I became interested in what else is going on around here so I poked around the off-topic forum and began to contribute.
I want to know how big is the active user part on these 10000...
Personally, I consider myself the line between most active lurker and least active contributer, which would put the number of active users around 120 or so; if post count is any guide, at least.
All active users start a count here!
One.

Dammit Thomas!

Try it on the recents page:

I say there are about 50 active users. Depends on what you think is active. Do you mean Neil Black active or Richard Phipps active?
active_users++;
I'm glad my memory isn't as bad as most of yours.
Meh, I know my memory is bad. I been meaning to do something about it, but I forget about 2 minutes later. It's just the short term memory module that needs replacing actually. If something survives long enough there, then I'm good.
I'm only partially kidding actually. There was a time I had IMed someone, and by the time they responded (Not even a minute actually), I forgot I had IM them.
I read the forums almost every day but hardly ever post. So somewhat_active_member++.
MiquelFire: I know exactly what you mean. Normally I have to concentrate to remember just about anything, and most times I have very little concentration to go around. So its a miracle I learned how to program It was darned hard I'll tell you, and windows 9x made it harder
stupid un protected memory
I pm'd him (or her) but no reply yet. I wonder why people sign up for the forums and then never post. If you look there are a lot of people who do that.
Matthew - how long are users active for on average before they lapse into inactivity?
Pete
Do you mean Neil Black active or Richard Phipps active?
And what exactly is that supposed to mean?
sits at computer hitting refresh until someone replies
I'm glad my memory isn't as bad as most of yours.
That's was over a year ago
Matthew - how long are users active for on average before they lapse into inactivity?
See the link he posted
Here it is
Accounts are "closed" after three months of inactivity. At any given time, there are usually 700 open accounts, of which 250 were active within the last week.
Now, Ryan, how long are users active for on average before they lapse into inactivity?
Pete
We're over 9000!
++acc.active_users;

May I have my number reassigned to 7777? Doesn't seem like it's being used...
activeUsers++ been ages since i posted.
activeUsers = 0;
Sorry guys, guess you have to start over now.
I'm semi active... though I don't think I've ever contributed anything even remotely useful or relevant since I joined. Just like this post!
Hey, Leverton, what's the database say about the user count?
IT'S OVER TEN THOUSAAAAAAAAAND!!!
What, ten thousand!? The scouter must be broken!
I consider myself at least semi-active
EDIT: Also, when in gods name did I go to place 65? I thought I was down at around 150
On average, the median period of activity before lapsing into inactivity is 3 months
Who is currently the most active, meaning who has made the most posts in the last two or three months?
Or how about something even harder to calculate, who contributes the most to this community (after Matt, without whom there wouldn't be a community to contribute to)?
Who is currently the most active, meaning who has made the most posts in the last two or three months?
Boo, I recently reviewed a game on the depot, that should count as several posts.
Boo, I recently reviewed a game on the depot, that should count as several posts.
Well, I recently... actually no, that wasn't me. Carry on.
Well, I'll upload a game to the depot, that should count as even more than a review!
That thousaaaand thing is getting old even in this thread!!
Pete
That thousaaaand thing is getting old even in this thread!!
Dragon Ball Z? Hahahahah! That is funny!
Is it just me, or does that anime look like it's drawn by a 13 year old.
Is it just me, or does that anime look like it's drawn by a 13 year old.
Did you not get the memo? Most animation is done by 13 year olds in Taiwan.
Did you not get the memo?
Oddly enough, I actually did get a memo. It was titled "Save the Taiwanian children!" I threw it away and watched Bobobo Bo Bobobo.
I threw it away and watched Bobobo Bo Bobobo.
That anime is unsettling.
Accounts are "closed" after three months of inactivity. At any given time, there are usually 700 open accounts, of which 250 were active within the last week.
Does that mean that such members must ask you to "unlock" their account once their account was "closed"?
Doesn't that also bring the member count higher, because of people making new account instead of the "closed" one?
I think it just means you can't send them PMs, and they don't get any kind of email from the forum.
