These days I think all sucks, including that test.
You can not say someone is something in a sooo few question.
Also in reality each result of that test would need a long study from multiple people.
Last, it's false.

You should just walk in to your doctor's clinic and ask him or her for an apology since they were so obviously wrong. In fact, the first thing you should say is "I took this test on the internet..." and watch the trained medical practitioner's eyes just sort of glaze over.

I'll certainly consider it! My doctor's actually in trouble at the moment because he waited six weeks to refer me the hospitals diabetes clinic after a blood test. The net result was that from my blood results I was proven to be a Type 1 diabetic and should have been seen within 24 hours, instead I was rushed to hospital having fallen into hyperglycemia, five and a half weeks later.

Its not the actual behaviour that's seen as a sign, but the degree of seriousness.. Being a little shy or a little outspoken is fine, being a lot of ANYTHING can be a bad thing.

Tests show nothing. I can go to self-diagnosis site and end up having high possibility of cancer, when in fact all I have is tireness caused by going to bed late.
One can positively determine if he has cancer. Symptoms may not be clear, but going to the doctor and running scans can easily determine the cause.
"Personality disorders" often have no known traceable cause. The only way you are diagnosed with one is to be observed by a professional. Thus taking a well constructed test (I'm not suggesting that this one is) could be fairly accurate.
I fit all seven of DSM-IV-TR's criteria for schizoid personality disorder, most to very extreme levels. Only four are required. Of course, there is an escape clause that includes "must not have some other disorder like Asperger syndrome."
I of course don't know what label a psychologist would give me, if any. I suppose it could easily differ depending on which one I went to. But to me, the exact label doesn't really matter unless you are looking to change the way you are.
Then it would be helpful to get a precise diagnosis because symptoms could be due to something else, like depression or a real medical condition.
Stupid fixed test. It seems to be impossible to get 0% on everything. Minimum is 10% in all categories and that's when you answer "very inaccurate" to everything, except for "very accurate" at "I enjoy social gatherings."
Many disorders are overlapping. Even if you were to get 95% and 90% on two them, it's possible that you really are only labeled as one. One of the criteria is usually something like, "And isn't characterized by some other disorder."
All of the described behavioral patterns are perfectly human ways of acting/feeling, nothing "disordered" about it, in my opinion.
I agree that in general that "disorder" is too harsh of a word. But all of them can negatively impact your life, so they cannot be completely ignored.
And one should never use some label as an excuse for any negative actions. If your disorder is "causing" you to do bad things, then you should check yourself in somewhere.

You should never trust a questionaire. Just because you think or do things one way doesn't mean you have a disorder. Unless of course you wish to join scientology who will give you a test and sell you a book in 5 minutes
But just to show how bad these tests are, my son has been recently diagnosed with ASD (they don't put specific tags on them in this country, e.g. aspergers, etc), simply he is very mild with specific difficulties such as interpreting idioms/metaphors/etc and socialising (but don't we all). It has taken the professionals (I'm talking 10+ experts, including a paediatritian, psychologist, speech therapists, occuational therapist) about 6 years to decide this, so 20 questions is hardly going to help anyone
What is "borderline" anyway? I thought it was used in conjunction with another disorder, such as "borderline schizophrenic", meaning a person who was dangerously close to schizophrenia.

You should never trust a questionaire. Just because you think or do things one way doesn't mean you have a disorder.
Of course. That's what I said.
A good test might help you judge your symptoms relative to other people who take that test. And no, that doesn't prove any cause, but unless you're looking for some sort of "explanation" for your actions it doesn't really matter.
I'm not so sure how much I even believe in the usefulness of general labels determined by observation anyway. I think if ten experts analyzed any of us for six years, they'd end up with enough dirt to label us as something.
Everyone has something its just a matter of severity. A disorder is really just dis order. Its all really just the normal parts over or under performing. Wether or not it effects you or others in a bad way determines the actual problem if there is one.

For my career strategies class, we had to take this test. It's a short little test with a bunch of yes/no questions and at the end gives you one of 16 personality types from the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. For example, my personality type was INFP (the same as Shakespears and Anne of Green Gables
) It was actually quite accurate. The descriptions it gave me of my type pretty much described me perfectly.

I got a 13. 18 is average male, 32+ is Asperger's.
I got a 30 on the Asperger test. These tests (including the original personality one) probably have zero false negatives, but are ripe with false positives.
I got 24 on the Asperger test. Guess that means I'm a geek.
And while I kind of am, usually when I tell people I'm into computers they are a little surprised.
I got a 30 on the Asperger test.
Same here.
I got a 20, pretty average.
heh, i expected a much higher score for paranoid

Y: Every one of your scores is weaker than average. Have you been doing Gentoo?
Well, tests are only accurate if you can relate to the questions. On some of the questions neither answer seemed right, but on most of them it was a definite yes or a definite no. That has a big effect on whether or not the result will fit or not.
The list of careers it gave were just careers which would be a good match with your personality and skills, not careers that you'd actually want to do. I suppose you could think that usually if someone's good at something they'd enjoy doing it, but that's not always the case.

Hehe, apparently you didn't want people to read that. I guess it's a good thing I didn't quote you then.
I too got 30 on the Asperger test.

Sorry for editing.
If I knew you were replying to it I wouldn't have.
At first I was OK with posting it, but it slowly became apparent that the personality type didn't fit me (IMO) and I didn't want to be associated with it.
I guess I don't mind if people know what I scored (INFJ). I think the test was biased though and in this particular case didn't match it's user very well. In particular, I like to help people when the opportunity presents itself (and when the help is something I'm comfortable with), but I don't seek opportunities to help people and I despise the career suggestions. Helping people doesn't seem to define me...
heh, i expected a much higher score for paranoid
It's a conspiracy.
Now I'm back to not knowing again...
Parts of this description for INFJ fit me pretty well, but other parts (activism, careers) do not.
Sorry for editing.

No worries. I didn't mind, I mostly found it amusing.
The careers it gave me were (if I can recall correctly) philosophy, writing, humanities, web development (I was surprised by this one... since it's not something I would have associated my personality with but I still like to do it), and archeology. Now, I can't imagine myself doing any of those (except for web development) as an actual career, but they're all things that when I do end up doing, it comes pretty easily (I don't know about archeology).
I got a 30 on the Asperger test.
I got a 20. I think they mixed up our results.
The questions could use a little more indirectness to them.

You should all be on medication like me. 7.5 mg olanzapine before bed, 20mg citalopram in the morning. The olanzapine is an anti-psychotic which supposedly stops me from going postal but I put it down to the mere fact that I'm not armed. The other is meant to stop me getting depressed but really just makes me feel like a zombie with slightly above average mood.
my read out is about the same as Edgar Reynaldo's there are no passing grades.
edit: so it must be a normal reading:D
Edit2 i would love to see their formal so i could see how close it comes to my study
Edit3: NOtce how almost every on with high Obsessive-Comp rating formated their data nicely those with the higher ones ever went as far to change the name so things would look better.
Its not the actual behaviour that's seen as a sign, but the degree of seriousness.. Being a little shy or a little outspoken is fine, being a lot of ANYTHING can be a bad thing.
Well, but not socializing with people is a good thing, because it gives you time to get stuff done/to practice your skills.
I agree that in general that "disorder" is too harsh of a word. But all of them can negatively impact your life, so they cannot be completely ignored.
And one should never use some label as an excuse for any negative actions. If your disorder is "causing" you to do bad things, then you should check yourself in somewhere.
I guess you're right.
I scored 32 on that Asperger Test.
That does not make me feel bad though, I think I handle the boring everyday life stuff just fine (by ignoring most of it and doing only the bare necessities (eat/sleep/work)).
23 on the Asperger's test. Although I am not sure what the difference between slightly agree and slightly disagree would be. The borderline definition is close to me, except I was never molested as a child. Near miss, a pedophilic priest came to my house looking for my younger brothers once.
[edit] Would matching white socks be considered obsessive-compulsive?
Am I the only one who's noticed that the schizoid levels are fairly high among us?
EDIT: Well, mostly above average now that I think about it.
Am I the only one who's noticed that the schizoid levels are fairly high among us?
maybe thats what it takes to be a programmer. its a side affect of being able to grasp abstract thinking

Piccolo says something with which I partially agree, let alone understand?
Programming tends to be a solitary task, especially if you're self taught. A lot of us probably spent our younger / teenage years behind computers as opposed to socializing with our peers. While that doesn't answer the question of whether or not we were "predisposed" to a schizoid-like personality, I think the relationship is there.
It's a conspiracy.
How would that work? Make people think that they aren't paranoid, so they take their thoughts about conspiracy seriously? Some incompetent conspiracy.
I got a 30 on the Asperger test. These tests (including the original personality one) probably have zero false negatives, but are ripe with false positives.
I'd also expect a lot of false positives for an Asperger's test on a programming forum. It's also known as "Geek Syndrome" after all.
I scored a 42, which is less than usual.
I got a 29 on the Asperger test, not sure what does that mean, but it seems average.
Wow, you guys suck at not having Asperger's.
Some incompetent conspiracy.
That's what they want you to think!;)
That's what they want you to think!
Sir, we are they.
Sir, we are they.
...and by posting this exchange, the conspiracy will never be taken seriously!
Exactly.
I just showed up as dependant. Other than that, I think I was fine.
