I'll kick off the depot-posting.

I was trying to go for more style, something I've always had trouble with. Anyway, as hack games go, I didn't finish everything I drew up sadly. However, I got more done on this most of my previous hack titles during the hack. This one's even playable, even if some of the more desirable features were not implemented.
Here's how it works, in a nutshell. The trucks come, dump the garbage in one of the 9 corridors and the garbage slowly fills up to the dotted red line. You start up a burner by tapping the numpad keys. The faster you tap them, the faster the burner will charge. You can press the regular numkeys (above the characters) to use a "flare attack", which quickly charges the burner and sets the red dotted line to the bottom (but costs $1000). For now, the only purpose is to see how much money you can collect. With not very much balancing of the trucks, that could be a long time, but it gives you an idea of what I wanted to do.
Here's the game (and src), only 95Kb: Garbage Man Stan!.
(There is a little bug though, it seems if you play to a certain point, the gameover screen won't come up, which means the game won't win).

I was in a rush this morning to bundle but I seemed to have been a minute late on the submission time. Anyway, I got the same message on my work machine and put together a package that worked on it (so hopefully it'll work on yours). The link above should have it now, sorry.
I really like the graphics of the trucks, they are cute!
I really like the graphics of the trucks, they are cute!
Thanks! Heh, that makes the "cute" count on the trucks up to 4.
I'm hoping to add the 20% I didn't get to include in the game before the week is over. For the most part, the game looks exactly as I imagined it, so I'd like to see it finished.
*Things that are coded but aren't present in-game
- Different colored trucks (which carry different types of garbage: light, medium and heavy).
- Garbage that falls at different rates (based on the list above)
- The ability to clear a corridor that is almost full (this is actually listed in the controls of the readme).
*Things I want to add
- Time of the day
- Story (a quick intro explaining why you (Stan) are burning gas)
- Getting raises
- Using the money to buy different things
After realizing the game is not much fun, I'd like to change the control scheme somewhat too (to what I originally planned). It'll be more of a managing game rather than a induces-carpal-tunnel game.
The garbage trucks are indeed cute! I especially like the wobbly smoke
To me it's not really obvious under which conditions i loose the game. it seems kind of random. Perhaps this is because of the bug you mentioned in your first post?
I tried to play it, but its really hard cause my numpad is combined with the keyboard awkwardly like laptops do so I couldn't do it.
Looks cool, does the smoke cover the whole screen in the end? Sort of a foretelling of the future of our world?
Once i figured out how to play it was fairly entertaining.
I ran into some sever skipping and lagging about half way through playing which got so frustrating I had to exit the game (amusingly enough, my game suffers from the exact same problem. The reason it happens on mine is because the fire algorithm is poorly written and not optimized, so when there are too many fires on screen the game will spend all the time updating the fire, but not rendering it to the screen).
Basically at a certain point the game will just stop running and when the screen updates next half the screen will be full, and the cycle repeats.
I'm on a PM 1.6GHZ, so it's not a slow machine by any means. Geforce Mobile 6600.
