OpenLayer Tutorials
Richard Phipps

A few weeks ago I got asked if I would consider doing an OpenLayer game tutorial in the same way I did a normal Allegro one on my Reflected Games site.

While the tutorial is looking a bit creaky now and I have moved onto OpenLayer at the moment, I don't have the time to do a tutorial.

Having said that I think it would be a good idea and help make OpenLayer and Allegro more popular. Would anyone else consider making a tutorial instead of me?

Rich.

Not instead, but I'd be willing to chip in. I don't have too much time myself, but maybe together we could whip something up?

Richard Phipps

No sorry, I don't have the time. :(

Paul whoknows

Would it be possible to modify your articles to make them work with openlayer?

Richard Phipps

Yes, although some things like the scrolling would have to be rewritten to use a tilemap.

CursedTyrant

I could write a tutorial, since I've come to use OpenLayer fairly often, and altough I may have an occasional problem or two, I'm quite capable of using it. I'm just no good at writing tutorials.

Richard Phipps

So, that's a no then is it?? :'(

Start a wiki.

Everyone will be able to add/modify it.

I'm willing to help, but I don't know everything already

and should it be about just OpenLayer or about writing a game with OpenLayer.. there's a slight but important difference. for example making an object (sprite) engine that handles everything... drawing, moving etc..

I'd be willing to host a wiki along side allegro's for OpenLayer. Or you can use awiki. I'll be moving awiki to MediaWiki soon'ish.

Using awiki would be ideal. OpenLayer is allegro related anyhow it'll make it easy to cross reference some things.
