In this thread you have to explain the meaning of your nick and your avatar ... i know people love to speak about themselfes
ok, so i'll start:
My nick: Mithrandir... well this is quite simple; Mithrandir is the name given to Gandalf by the people of Gondor (for the few who don't know what i'm talkin about... read a cute book named "The Lord of the Rings")
My Avatar: this is a bit more complicated... it seems a Christian cross but it isn't... the shape is formed by 4 "F"s. The 4 "F" stand for 4 italian words: "Forza" (strengh),"Fede"(faith),"Fiducia"(trust, confidence),"Fermezza"(firmness, fortitude) ... i actually got his idea from an italian comic "GEA".
your turn...
[edited]
Avenger: I just found the word somewhere, and use it because I like the word (not for what it means)
Avatar: umm, what avatar;D
In this thread you should explain the meaning of your nick and your avatar
But we don't have to? Yay! So, what's the weather like around there wherever you live?
I don't have an avatar. Or a nick.
But we don't have to? Yay! So, what's the weather like around there wherever you live
its quite sunny... now you actually have to... i edited
Its sunny here too
Mithrandir is the name given to Gandalf by the people of Gondor
By the Elves, actually.
it seems a Christian cross but it isn't...
Well, if it's the same shape, then it is, even if you did not intend it to be.
Well, I guess it's been a while.
Evert is simply my name. As for my avatar, he's a character from a series of books I enjoy very much. He's the evil professor.
i know people love to speak about themselfes
Perhaps, but I'd wager someone's nick/avatar is the least interesting thing about them...
My nickname was inspired by my actual name!
My avatar is a "Hello Kitty" pic, given the "Horrifyingly Undead Zombie" treatment by the guys in "Fab 5"
My quest is to knock your socks off
I don't have an avatar. Or a nick.
Perhaps, but I'd wager someone's nick/avatar is the least interesting thing about them.
If you don't like this thread just click on Kill Thread...
BTW im just curious... is this a crime?
Dag Erik Peter Sundling.
If you don't like this thread
I didn't say that. I find it highly amusing.
im just curious... is this a crime?
Crime? What is? Why would it be?
And my avatar is Fighter. I drew him myself. See monkeyblah for wallpaper.
BAF is my initials
my avatar... what is my avatar?
[edit]
oh yeah, avatar: i saw a similar avatar on the hackme or one of those hacking site forums, and changed the idea slightly.
I didn't say that. I find it highly amusing.
im glad you don't need much to amuse yourself
BTW your wallpaper is really nice.
Come people! I really enjoy reading about your avatars and nick!!
im glad you don't need much to amuse yourself
You're the one who started the thread.
I was never given the opportunity to choose a nickname, so I only have my name.
My avatar is a self-portrait.
And another thread, already on the bowl's edge to begin with, falls into the toilet with a loud splash.
As for my avatar and nick, everyone knows anyway. This thread comes up so often on GameDev it drives me right bonkers.
Real name
Real picture. I was forced to join a forum due to a course and everyone had to attach their real picture in the profiles. Later on I animated it (so that some of you won't see it). Some asked how I managed to take the picture. For some it is obvious, some don't come to think about it at all.
ReyBrujo: Spanish version of Witchking, so be careful with me, Mithrandir
And my avatar pictures a cow eating grass. Where is the cow? She left after finishing her meal. And the grass? Was eaten by the cow
(sorry, old spanish joke, couldn't resist
)

This is not GameDev and i don't even have an account on GameDev...
My avatar is a self-portrait.
I'm sure that image is a fake, you can't be so nice-looking in real life
Spanish version of Witchking, so be careful with me, Mithrandir
Should I? afterall you are only a slave
...
Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,
...
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in darkness bind them,
it's my name. God, i'm boring
I used to call myself 'Kameleon' (punnage on the K-instead-of-Ch business) until I realised how daft it sounded. Some company also made a remote control called that and copyrighted it
"Rob" is short for "Robert", and that's as nicknamish as I get.
The picture was from an ill-fated graphic-novelly thing I kept starting but never finishing because of terrible planning. Someday, I'll write it first, then draw pictures. The guy is "Boris" and he's an engineer who makes spaceships.
Rob
This is not GameDev and i don't even have an account on GameDev...
So?
Uhhh, hmmmmmm
Well, my nick is based on the title of an Art of Noise song called Paranoimia. However, when I first started using it, I was on EFNet (IRC) and it was limited to 9 characters. So Paranoimia became Paranoima (I didn't like it ending in I). As for the Avatar, its Max Headroom \o/. He is the voice on the song too.
it's my name. God, i'm boring
Your avatar is nice
So?
Stop yourself from being driven bonkers. (whatever this means...
)

I like your cartoonish style, i hope you will manage to finish the project
[edit]
Well, my nick is based on the title of an Art of Noise song called Paranoimia.
never heard of the song (im not a big music fan, thought) but the avatar is c00l :=)
My nick is my name... Steve Terry
and the avatar is from a grill plate for a PC that I used a nice freeware program called sodipodi to vectorize it then painstakingly edited and remodified it until the final result, also the Gimp helped a bit with making it "glow" and the gimp created the text at the bottom which was also a painstaking process because it seemed that the name was taken everywhere so after about 12 revisions I got a name I like and isn't taken... I hope.
Steve Terry: there Avatar is cool, but im sorry about the name... check this ...
SONOFA........
My nickname is mystiscool, because... I think that the Myst trilogy is cool.
My avatar is from the cover of the CD "Wish You Were Here" by the band Pink Floyd.
My nick is FrankyR because that is short for Franky Rodriguez. That is not actually my name, but it is a fake name that I made up a long time ago because I thought it sounded cool. My real name is Richard.
My avatar is the head of Ketchup, the main character from my current game project.
the first letter of my first name and seven first letters of my last name. The avatar is Wagner, from the comic Viivi ja Wagner.
Nick name is Tronman. It was originally Tronboy, but I changed it to Tronman to symbolize my maturation as a game programmer (and still no finished game... go figure). The whole Tron slant came from my intentions on making my first game in the vein of the Discs of Tron.
My current avatar has nothing to do with my name, but I kept see this guy in the Aqua Teen Hunger Force Season 2 DVD commericial, and it kept making my laugh to see that freaky puppet stroking that ball. I had to make it my avatar... Heh heh... It's making my laugh right now!
Let's see...
Nickname? Named after this really l33t bastard I know.
Icon? Just a picture of me. I think. I don't have images enabled so I'm not sure what my icon is.
Marcello
Nothing amazing here. Random letters you can see are my real name, sometimes I use Krzysiek, which is shorter form of my first name. Probably just calling me KK would be easiest (although I still prefer just Krzysiek). X-G used to call me Zorro, I guess because of presence of too many Z's in my name (although I still prefer just Krzysiek).
And my avatar you all should know where it comes from.
Well, if it's the same shape, then it is, even if you did not intend it to be.
Have you seen a christian cross? His avatar looks nothing like one. Unless my cache is wrong...
As for my name, well, my current name is my own. My nickname I used for awhile (Etwinox) was just some random words tacked together. Ex Win OS to be specific. I changed the 'x' to a 't' and the 's' to an 'x'. Boom. A name that was supposed to last a month. Heh.
ClovekX is the name of my first arcade game in C(5 years ago). Word by word it can be translated like ManX. I rather use CX as my nick, but it's too short sometimes.
I draw my pic once at school only because everybody here had some and as I hadn't found anything better than Paintbrush it looks like it looks.
Have you seen a christian cross?

His avatar looks nothing like one. Unless my cache is wrong...
It looks like some modified/elaborate/decorated versions of christian crosses I've seen around. But no, it obviously doesn't look like a +
Etwinox sounded nice to me. And was close to not so random word "equinox", which I guess wasn't bad.
Have you seen a christian cross? His avatar looks nothing like one. Unless my cache is wrong...
It's not too far off, I guess.
And my avatar you all should know where it comes from.
Shrek 2? That's a wild guess ...
EDIT: Wow; I got beat ...
My nick is the first letter of my first name and the first five letters of my last name.
As for the avatar, it's Black Mage from Final Fantasy / 8-Bit Theater.
My avatar is my character in Baldur's Gate II. I'm a Mage Killer Elf, so you should really be careful with me, Mithrandir (FYI, I've killed a big dragon)
[edit] and you, kdevil, too[/edit]
Nothing special to say about my name...
[edit]
Shrek 2? That's a wild guess ...
Does that mean you haven't seen Shrek 2 yet?? You must go NOW to the cinema
You've killed a dragon? Well, I've even created one, like this. (yes, picture is a bit dark, but he likes night)
Actually, I can create even a bunch of them.
(dragon model isn't mine, but game and engine is)
I still want to know where spellcaster's avatar is from ...
You've killed a dragon?
It was tough, but yes
last lines in status bar say
Oscar - Critical hit
Oscar has done 23 damage points to Thaxll'ssillyia
Thaxll'ssillyia - Dead
Me, and only me killed him
Me, and only me killed him
23 hit points... it seemed to be a bit weak dragon.
I like Star Trek, and I happen to have the ability to assimilate people.
My avatar used to be an ugly stick figure that I drew myself. Miquel Burns must have felt sorry for me, so he gave it a makeover, and MattSmith animated it. Now, she has style and she can really bust some moves.
I happen to have the ability to assimilate people.
So why are you still so skinny? When MeMe assimilates people, he grows bigger ...

Fool! 23 is the code for Super Uber Incredibly Tough! Why, Oscar must have been hacking just to stand a chance at all!
My nick started as a character from a book, then I found out Nonnus was a poet that lived A REALLY LONG TIME AGO. My avatar is Hasbro toy that had his own comic book; 'Rom the Space Knight'. I've always had a special afinity for superheroes encased in Armor. Something to discuss with my therapist no doubt.
Some of you are talking about avatars I don't see. Whats up with that?
nonnus: enable animated avatars in your profile.
So why are you still so skinny? When MeMe absorbs people, he grows bigger ...
Absorbing makes you fat. Assimilating lets you remain foxxxy for years to come.
I didn't type "absorbs".
MeMe isn't fat either, he's buff.
Anyway, I just changed my avatar. Cookies to the first person who has any idea what that is.
Cookies to the first person who has any idea what that is.
Looks like an astronaut with an inflated head...
I'm looking for a name here ...
Hey, you said what, not who!

For a name, I'd have no idea.
At first I thought it was QRio..
At first I thought it was QRio...
That was awesome. And by awesome, I mean totally sweet.
Hmmm... on second thoughts, it looks a bit like TMS wearing a space suit... something about the belly and the general shape of the body...
No, this is a very famous character ...
Nick: I'm actually thinking about changing...
But its extremely original, so it'll do, it's never taken anywhere.
Avatar: It's me, in Norway when I was in the lift between two black pist runs.
I didn't type "absorbs".
Liar liar pants on fire!
Too bad you can only edit your posts and not mine eh?
Too bad you can only edit your posts and not mine eh?
Care to continue this on GameDev?
Uhm, it's me...
Care to continue this on GameDev?
My momma posts on GameDev, and she told me not to talk to you, because you swear too much. And also because you're a stranger.
Hey! Quiet about that dragon-killing. You may upset my avatar, and he's starting to get hungry. Why do I have a dragon as an avatar? I don't remember the details, but I think I created him beacuse of some discussion in a thread here. I always use avatars I've made myself.
Most of you who've been around for a while know the story behind my nick. For those that don't, it's a combination of the Swedish words for trumpeter and bassoonist. Originated as a password but evolved into my personal internet alias that I use everywhere. If you've seen a Trumgottist anywhere, it's me.
raist0069 came from the name Raistlin. He was a wizard from the Dragonlance books. His friends sometimes called him Raist for short. I began to use raist as my nick and found out lots more people did also. So I added 0069 to be unique.
The avatar is just a cool pic I found of Raistlin.
I would say only Caramon, his brother, called him Raist. And maybe Kitiara, his half-sister
23 -
Your current avatar looks like the fighter on FF1, NES version, prior to visiting Bahaumet and getting upgraded. And hes wearing a hat that is from the little annoying bots on MegaMan. You know, the ones you can't shoot until you close enough for them to pick up their helmets.
My nick is the name of the project Im working on, which is a new cash register.
My avatar is a pic of my daughter when she was 1.

Good heavens. That was three avatars ago. For the love of all that's holy, hit Ctrl+F5, man!
I wonder who has the oldest cache around
23: Well, since it looks like a robot, and also looks very depressed, I'm guessing Marvin from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
Damn.
kdevil got it. That's what Marvin looks like in the movie coming out next year.
Um, my nick is a modification of my last name. And my avatar is Eddie!
Woohoo!
Now where are my cookies?
Get them from Matoya.
(The secret ingredient is Evil.)
umm... o.o; Mine is self explanatory. SSC Loves meh ^^ My Sabrina Cain nick well.. is obviously my real name. My pic.. hmm.. Well I found it in a wallpaper and she looks sad but pretty. I put it on there because when I started talking on here I was sad.. o.o; But I like it.. and I dun have another icon to change it. ^^;
I stole this nick from someone else half a decade ago.
They played MajicRealm - a VERY old pay-to-play text RPG - as a thief, if I recall correctly. Sure showed that thief how to steal!
It's french or something, I think. Compagne Derezo! Whatever the hell that means.. I think it's something to do with ballet or something.
As for my avatar, it's from a popular TV show called 'The Simpsons' which is part of the Fox Television Network. The series first aired way back in the late 80's. This particular character is Mr. Burns, who is the owner of a nuclear power plant. He's exceedingly wealthy, and also extremely old. For those who recall the episode my avatar is from, you'll know that burns' age has 4 digits.
I'm sure most of you didn't know where my avatar was from. So now you do.
Nick: My real name. For some reason my parents named me Gage Emmeric Manson just because they wanted to have a child whose name's initials spelled out GEM.
Avatar: Don't have one yet because I've not designed it yet.
I would say only Caramon, his brother, called him Raist. And maybe Kitiara, his half-sister
Well, I didnt expect anyone to know names so I just said friends.
name: second name
avatar: my leg wearing really funky pantyhose
Nick: Three first letters of my first name + three first letters of my last name.
Avatar: Gilbert from squidi.net (first season)
It's french or something, I think. Compagne Derezo! Whatever the hell that means.. I think it's something to do with ballet or something.
To me, your nicks sounds a lot like the spanish word 'aderezo' (dressing), so whenever I see any post of you, I think of Thousand Islands
Hmm, he doesn't look miserable enough to be marvin imo. He wasn't that bad in Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy, though. It gets more fun in the sequels
I don't think I was even asked for a nickname when I joined allegro.cc
The reason for my avatar is because I am secretly Bruce Lee.
My Nick, Radagar, is a name I came up with for an Elven Ranger as a Dungeons & Dragons character, years ago. It's actually based off of Radagast the Brown, a less-known Wizard in the Tolkien world of Middle Earth. I've since used the name quite a bit on the internet, and as characters in online games, such as EverQuest and Horizons, and Ultima Online.
My avatar is my German Shepherd when she was just a puppy =)
My current avatar has nothing to do with my name, but I kept see this guy in the Aqua Teen Hunger Force Season 2 DVD commericial, and it kept making my laugh to see that freaky puppet stroking that ball. I had to make it my avatar... Heh heh... It's making my laugh right now!
Heh... well, I've found a way to have my avatar be relevant to my name, and it still makes me laugh with it's freakish puppetiness... Whoo, whoo!!!
Um. My "nick" here is guessable.
And my avatar, not so much.
You'd have to be a fan of the old Bullwinkle cartoon to guess who it is
As a boy i played way too much Team Fortress(a quake1 mod) as the Pyro class. Oh and my avatar is taken from some Quake3 Team Fortress art.
Thanks to all that made this thread grow!
I really enjoyed reading the story behind your nicks and avatars
There are still many users who have not posted, but i hope they will in the near future.
Okay I have read this thread since the beginning but was too lazy to post... Here I go
:
Well my friends usually have some difficulty understanding my nick, but for english speaking people it shouldn't be so difficult.
Firstly, I once needed a nick to register accounts on internet. Since I lack imagination, I thought of making a nick from my first name, which is Florian. In fact everyone calls me Flo, so I am Flo. But it is a bit too short. I am not any Flo. I am The Flo, the only one. Therefore I am Da Flo ( a bit of english slang here and there ). So da_flo
.
And BTW da_flo can also be read da flow ( I've seen people on #allegro on IRC calling me like this ), which can be seen as a rap or hip-hop reference ( even though I do not listen to this kind of music any longer
)
Then I kept this nick cause I got used to it
Then as for my avatar...
I change avatars from time to time, so it's not really relevant. My current avatar is quite recent. It's Jin from the anime Samurai Champloo ( see my sig ). I took him because I became a fan of this anime ( and yet only the very first episodes are available
) and Jin is really coooool ( and it's the character that sort of looks the most like me )
My previous avatar was a bit more relevant, it was a chryzode rendered by my program ( see my sig and my site
). Well people might still not know what chryzodes are, but some already know me as the chryzode freak here
. Anyway if you're curious check it ( Yay another shameless plug
)
It looked like this :
Well it looks quite strange if you do not know what it is, so with it I had the chance to be called "Funky-avatares" or "Nucleus Boy" by X-G... neat...
And some of you perhaps remember my previous avatar, which I kept the longest on allegro.cc. It was an animated avatar of Samus Aran from the wonderful SNES game Super Metroid
. I reallu love this console and particularly this game.
Here is the avatar for people having forgotten it, too :
Okay I was a bit too verbose, but I did it ::)... I postes here and now you know everything about me ;) ( well, not everything ;D )
Wait, Watanabe Shinichi made that? That guy's insane. I mean, totally insane. He came up with Excel Saga and Puni Puni Poemi, for god's sake. I HAVE to see that.
Watanabe made Cowboy Bebop too, which was great.
And you just need to watch the first episode of Samurai Champloo to see this guy is completely insane !
Well, I won't post such stuff here, but if you need some links to fansubs groups, forums, or torrent trackers for Samurai Champloo, feel free to PM me.
I've never picture Marvin as a fluffy shaped white thing.
My vision was a redeyed greyish tincan model, with diodes glowing on the side.
The book also clearly describes him as man-sized, and when he faces the Frogstar tank it specifically says he is not a "small" robot. But all Hitchhiker accounts contradict all others, so why shouldn't the movie be as faithful to the book as the book is to the TV and radio show?
(you can view a teaser here)
my current avatar is the best one ive had, so i returned to it recently. and the nick, it's totally random.
My vision was a redeyed greyish tincan model, with diodes glowing on the side.
Hate to break it to ya, Trezker, but your "vision" is pretty much from the BBC television special.
Goodbytes is from the book "Jurassic Park." The tin can avatar is just something I made up.
Goodbytes is from the book "Jurassic Park."
??
I've read that book. Refresh my memory; what was a "goodbytes"?
23: You know... that one dinosaur... with the teeth... sigh, never mind.
Hehe, here's the quote:
In a moment, all the keystrokes that Nedry had entered into the computer earlier in the day were listed in a window on the screen:
[...]
system
nedry
goto command level
nedry
040/#xy/67&
mr goodbytes
security
keycheck off
safety off
sl off
security
white_rbt.obj
From this I infer that 'mr goodbytes' is either nedry's password or the set of keystrokes that trigger his security backdoor with which he was able to shut down the park. Whatever. I just thought it sounded cool.
My nick and avatar come from the Japanese video game series Ys. It was the first video game to ever release its music as a seperate purchasible sound track, and had it's own manga series drawn about it. Also had 3 anime movies made. Currently "Ys Online", an mmorpg, is being developed... but I doubt it will reach the US
The current avatar is from Ys 6.
Adol is the hero/main character in all of them.
I was an original fan of the very first Ys when it came to the US in 1991... it was way before its time, what with voice acting and a large color pallete(sp?) and all: [url http://rpgcorner.online.fr/tests/YsBook/ys19.gif]This girl for
example[/url] The original came out for the turbo graphix cd system in America. It had been translated to English for the American release.
Dark Fact is the last boss's right hand man from the first Ys.
Goodbytes: That head is ok, and the general concept seems good, but the arms and boxiness feels rather lowtech. And his face is way too happy.
Hmm, is the radiohead song Paranoid Android related to Marvin? Just occured to me
No, marvin's just depressed. It's a vastly different condition.
When I read hgttg the second time it occured to me that they could have told Marvin to figure out the question, that should have given his computing power something to do for a while.
You would think that wouldn't you
The Big Question was about Life, The Universe and Everything.
Life! Don't talk to me about life.
So, Marvin's refusal to enter a normal, healthy manic/depressive cycle is his own fault.
I have been struggeling not to post in this thread, but as it popped up to the top once again i can no longer hold myself back!
Nick explanation: kentl actually stands for kent larsson
, but in a shorter version! Suprise!
Avatar explanation: The magicans in my avatar is part of some game graphics a friend of mine created a loong time ago for a game we where about to do in Amos (which never got finished).
I will see to that it comes to use though, as the very same magican is starring as the main character in my very secret project.
Well this thread is almost as good as dead but what the hey...
Nick: Reno, the turk from FF7, I liked his style and always aspired to be a nasty bar-steward.
Avatar: Err....Reno, the turk from FF7, I liked his style and always aspired to be a nasty bar-steward.
Nick: My RL name is Lennart, but some gangster dudes call me Lenman, Master Lenman to be exact (I would change my Nick to Master Lenman, if it was possible in this forum). I think it sounds cool so I started using it as my online nickname.
Avatar: It's the logo of John Titor's military unit.
There is a patch. It is round and has a graphic of a Kerr singularity (sort of looks like an eye with gravity waves around it) with two spiral paths running through its center. One path represents the "safe" way and the other is the path to God. The bottom of the patch has my unit number along with "Temporal Recon" printed on it. However, we remove any identification and patches before we go anywhere.
Reno, the turk from FF7
Final Fantasy VII? Well, crap. I have to hate you now.
Final Fantasy VII? Well, crap.
No, I have to hate you now. How can you
Well if it makes you feel better, I still hate FFVIII more ...
As long as you don't hate the almighty Chrono Trigger...
I love CT. It and FFIII are the reigning tag team champions of the console RPG universe.
Well if it makes you feel better, I still hate FFVIII more ...
Ah, good boy
I also hate FFVIII.
I daren't play any new RPG's. I'd never have any free time.
Ontopic: My nick is my name and my avatars have changed a lot over the last few years.

Ok.........you LOVE Chrono Trigger but HATE FF7? Err...exsqueeze me? Baking soda? What a quendo....
Ok.........you LOVE Chrono Trigger but HATE FF7?
Well ... I guess "hate" is a bit strong. But it was nothing special, and very underwhelming after it's immediate predecessor. Waste of my money. Chrono Trigger, OTOH, is universally hailed as one of the greatest games of all time. "Awesome" doesn't quite do the game justice, "beloved" might be closer.
Chrono Trigger, OTOH, is universally hailed as one of the greatest games of all time. "Awesome" doesn't quite do the game justice, "beloved" might be closer.
Agreed! Everything about the game is good.
Well, Final Fantasy ended with FFVI.
Well, call me insane (my Mum always did) but I think FF7 is a far better game than Chrono Trigger, far FAR better!
You're insane.
Agreed that FF8 wasn't too impressive... But as for FF7, I have just one word for you: C'mon! C'mooooon!!
Guess I must be insane too.
I'm a huge fan of FF7. I'd probably say it's one of the best in the series.
FFXI is turning out to be quite good aswell.. but... I have like 72+ hours of gameplay in right now, and I'm not even very far in it.
Takes forever to do anything, really.
Liked FF8, but it had it's issues. Was far too easy with the GF system's flaws.
FF9 was an improvement in terms of storyline, setting, and gameplay. It still lacked the difficulty of earlier games in the series.
The same can be said of FFX. Awesome story, setting, gameplay.. but the difficulty only lies in the mini-games and nowhere else.
Final Fantasy Tactics is my true love, though. It might not be directly into the series with that little 'Tactics' flag, but I don't care. It's still amazine
Damn Right! Mastering all the magics, getting a Golden Chocobo, beating the two Weapons (Ruby and Diamond), getting all the limit breaks.....god I wish I still had a playstation!
FF6 and CT in the peak. Secret of Mana 3 very close to them. I would add Front Mission lagging behind. And Dragon Quest V, but I could not advance a lot there. Those are my favorites.
Front Mission ... .. 3, right?
FM3 is a pretty awesome game. So is FM4, but... uhh.. I haven't been able to play it much since I got it.. a friend insisted I buy FFXI
Never played the original front mission games on SNES.
Oh, maybe I should have said, but guess it was understood. The games that most impressed me are SNES ones. PS never end to use its full capabilities, so I never get happy with them.
FF VIII's gameplay and Disc 3's romantic storyline were on drugs.
FF VII was alright, but it borrowed a lot of plot elements from FF VI. I refused to waste my time breeding chocobos and I was still able to defeat the final boss without Knights of the Round (and I didn't use Cloud's Limit Break until the game automatically gives it to you).
FF VI was great, but the only problem was with the lack of difficulty near the end and the game of "Pass the Magicite."
I haven't played CT, FF IV, or FF V in awhile. I recently completed FF I, which is one of the better FF's (I completed the NES version, by the way).
FFT was awesome. FFTA is so much inferior (I know 23yrold will disagree). I'll have to borrow FFT sometime in the future.
The Lunar series for the SegaCD and PS were good
Gotta love those classic sprite based RPG's... excellent storyline though for the day.
I'm a huge fan of FF7. I'd probably say it's one of the best in the series.
Ah, finally someone with a good taste
Probably I'm not a big fan of FF6 just because it didn't arrive here (FF7 is the first FF for us europeans
). So I played it late, with an emulator, which is not the same as playing it on the real snes. Same for CT. Very few RPG's arrived here for snes, and my level of english at that time was not really enough for an RPG
But I found both FF6 and CT great games
Never played the original front mission games on SNES.
I liked it very much
But it ended being very hard, maybe I did something wrong
You'll need to find an english patch, because the game is in japanese.
But it ended being very hard, maybe I did something wrong
They fixed that in the third! Near the end you get this laser canon that more or less instantly kills a wanzer part from an insane distance with perfect accuracy every time.
It's sort of silly.. because after that, every fight was easy.
Apparently FM4 gets very hard near the middle.. but I haven't even made it that far yet.
If you can't figure out my nickname and avatar you don't deserve to be working with games at all
Gnolam: looks kinda like the secret psychotic bunny character from Dark Forces 2 or Jedi Outcast, I can't remember which...
For me, it's from Sam & Max Hit the Road
(Don't make me tell if the rabit was Sam or Max).
Max. I've never heard of Sam & Max Hit the Road, but they had a hidden character in Dark Forces 2 (I think) that looks exactly like that. It had a machine gun, and was invincible. Kinda like a mad killer bunny.
mystiscool: You. Off the forums. Now.
No offense meant...
Dark Forces 2 is from Lucas Arts. Sam&Max is from Lucas Arts. Lucas Arts likes doing this stuff (you could play as Guybrush Threepwood in Indiana Jones & The Infernal Machine
)
1) Sam & Max Hit the Road is one of the best games ever made.
2) Max has had cameo appearances in many LucasArts games.
3) "Should I confront, pummel, and subdue the suspected perpetrator, Sam?"
Scrolled through the posts and can't see Spellcaster anywhere. I want to know where he got his avatar from.
My nickname: I didn't get asked for a nickname so I made up a random name that sounded cool - my real name is John Marwood Cleese
.
My avatar: No link/significance to anything, just purely random.
Gnolam: Master Of Orion ?

http://www.mithyk.com/stationprime/gnolam.jpg
What's he doing? Playing air-violin?
Mithrandir: yay, cookies for you
Trumgottist: Yep. The upper picture is a Gnolam Pianist, and the bottom one is a Gnolam Violinist. A properly trained and equipped symphony orchestra is the key to victory in Master Of Orion 2
