I had a rather high opinion of him, until one of those segments in Europe showed one of the contestants attempt to shake his hand, whereupon Trebek recoiled in disgust.

They all watch too much MSNBC... they get ideas.

Maybe he was a germaphobe; it should not necessarily reflect on him as a person.

Jeopardy has never been a strength of mine so I wasn't a consistent viewer, but I watched enough over the years to appreciate what he brought to it. I was saddened by the news, but ultimately unfazed. 80 is a pretty good life IMO, and I think that his skills/talents and successes with Jeopardy and elsewhere afforded him many opportunities that few are fortunate enough to have. It sounds like he understood his time was limited, and was at peace with it too. Ultimately I'm sorry for what humanity has lost, but I wasn't a big enough fan to feel the hurt. Mind you, I think I'm clearly neurodiverse. I don't think that these things affect me the same way that they affect others. I was pretty much the same when my grandmother died (even though I miss her dearly). :-/

I wasn't a Jeopardy fan either for the same reason. My trivia knowledge is not broad enough to enjoy playing along.

"Allegro for $500, Alex."

I only know Jeopardy from references in movies. And in relation to IBM's Watson of course.

Let's watch this one more time as tribute.

Wrong. You didn't answer in the form of a question. Also, the answer was Allegro not Alex.

I see you didn't' watch Jeopardy?

You picked a category for a dollar amount. You were then given the answer. You had to give a response in the form of a question that matched the answer.

They were nitpicky and you were wrong if you didn't answer in a question.

;D;D

:(

My father was an avid watcher of Jeopardy so it was on the TV almost every night when I was a young lad.

Mr. Trebek will indeed be missed.
