I'd use Reaper over ProTools any day. Although the ProTools session file encryption is fairly easy to crack (ptf and ptx), I don't like the fact that a company would encrypt the data you create and save to disk without your permission. What if one day I wanted to convert one or two sessions to use in another DAW? Now I have to spend a lot more $$$ on extra ProTools software I'll only use once or twice. I could use ProConvert instead, but they don't seem to support ProTools that well and it costs a hell of a lot.

This is why I support AATranslator, it helps people convert the sessions they want and doesn't hurt the pocket book like Avid or ProConvert. AATranslator just works and it probably works better for those trying to switch away from Avid ProTools.

Anyway, sorry for the off-topic ad. I just don't like PT anymore... ::)

ProTools has the worst interface and the most aggressive lock-in. It's also the most widely used in the industry. Go figure. ::)

One thing that ProTools has over every other option is the hardware. They make some pretty darn good boards.

I broke a string. :P I decided to check the tuning again and went to tune the top string and like a n00b was adjusting the 3rd string's nut knob AKA machine head instead. :-X I was getting annoyed that the note wasn't changing and just as I realized something was wrong, boom. :-[ Hopefully the guitar didn't sustain any serious damage from it...

Heh heh. I've started to tune the wrong string before, but it's like programming. If something doesn't seem right, STOP! You most likely are making an elementary mistake somewhere. >:(

I've seen that mistake made. In the guy's defense, he was blind drunk at the time. The instrument's actual owner still wasn't amused, though. ;)

I made that mistake before, except I noticed it before the string broke.
