I'm writing a simple little app for android (may port to iOS later) that helps a person track their sleeping cycles. I need some decent icons to indicate awake, and sleep. As well as a nice logo icon (in a few sizes). I am willing to pay, but I don't have a lot of money for it. I can't really find anything appropriate (and legal) on google. So I was hoping some of the more artistic people here would be willing to help Something simple, maybe a bit web 2.0, or "google flat" style would work. My initial ideas include a sun and moon icon, or some kind of animal or character that is shown awake and asleep (with zzz's or not..). But I completely lack the skill to draw this. -- |

Do you have image dimensions in mind or did you prefer vector? And what does "a nice logo icon" refer to? What is that to be an image of?

Vector would allow many sizes, but I need a bunch depending on the pixel density, and screen size. And the app store wants a 512x512 logo icon as well. general android iconography guidelines In the end I need pngs, and some vector graphics don't like to scale up and down too far without changes. So its hard to say. append: I'd also like a somewhat larger awake/sleep set for the main screen. -- |

The app store icon and the launcher icon are separate images, but I'd like them to be somewhat similar. also I'm pretty sure the app store image is also scaled down somewhat, but not to the same degree. -- |

Could just do something simple like a pillow with z's rolling off it. No need to over think the logos. "You may think I care about what you think of me..and you'd be wrong. I'm not on this planet to please you. I'm here to take care of my family. Outside of that, you might as well be pissing in the wind. You'll get a better return from that than you will from me." |

Yeah I tried to make a mock up of my idea, but my art ability on computers sucks more than my coding. By the time I was done with the mock up it looked like a square with rounded corners a black wedge inside and a line of z's going off on it (color scheme was crappy too). Are the awake and sleep icons both square? What's the layout like in which these two icons would be used? |

Android recommends they not be "square" and have an alpha/transparent background. The main screen will have a semi-large version of them in the middle which you touch to change if you've woken up, or gone to sleep, and the history tab/list will have the same icon for each entry in the list, depending on if its a wake or sleep record. I'll see about taking some pictures of the current layout tomorrow after I get up (I'm just heading to dlrrp now), if it'll help at all. I'm not married to the main page layout at all either, but so far its the best I've come up with. -- |
