Also, splitscreen indie games would count!

AFAIK, indie games were never allowed on the nes and snes and I dont think genesis or n64 had any either. This was because of the atari crash of 1983 where tons of crappy games were made and as a result the value of the market inflated to near junk status and atari went under soon after.

For something worth playing on the snes I would recommend pto1 and 2, but the learning curve is hard but worth it. This game will never get old simply because its a standard in that genre like final fantasy 7 for rpgs. Super metroid is fun to beat in 4 hours if you have played it already. Metroid is nice if you've beaten it and try a speed run and see if you can beat it in 4 hours or less. Air Strike Patrol is another fun isometric game and metal marines is another chess type game thats also isometric. Metal Warriors is by far my favorite side scroller and cybernator is also fun and easy. Ninja turtles 4 is nice and easy with 2 player.King Arthurs World; although that game gets super difficult after the 4 world campaigns and Arthur moves underground to the goblin world.

Mario 64 is a decent game compared to the others in the series, even sunshine isn't better.

I never really played Genesis and I have never seen any game on that system that was better than the snes, and in terms of playing one or the other, I'd take an old school snes game over genesis any day. I can also see why sega stopped making consoles after the dreamcast since only the soul caliber game was awesome and everything else was meh :-/ .

Oh now I remember another one, for the Mega Drive: Gunstar Heroes, awesome game. I played that game a lot with a friend when I was child.

I'm talking about PC games. :P

For instance, Worms or a clone like Hedgewars. Scorched Earth. Super Mario Wars--or its father, Jump'n'Bump. Tyrian would be a fun 2-player one (especially the secret minigame for those who remember it!).

Oh gosh, that brings back some wicked awesome memories.

And these aren't even multiplayer games but... the music... oh baby!

(sidenote: Did you know Zone 66's intro song ripped off Firefox with Clint Eastwood)

**correct: No. It wasn't. But the game was inspired visually from it.

I'm looking for fun console games. Especially multiplayer ones!

What games of the NES, SNES, Genesis, N64, and Gamecube systems would you recommend? Basically anything I can emulate.

Also, splitscreen indie games would count!?

???

That's my bad, of course. I thought indie game implied PC, the only platform that supports indie games other than the recent android platform. :)

One more awesome song! Raptor! I love the menu theme once you enter "new game". The dissonant repeating of the rhode/electric piano notes just feels good.

And another!!! How could I not post this?

Oooohhh yeah.... Mmmm.....

Are people really too dumb to select "general midi" from setup when playing old games in dosbox? Dosbox comes with midi passtrough enabled by default (it translates the data received by the MPU-401 emulator via DirectMusic to windows' software rompler), so you don't need to listen to the FM beeps and wheezes. It even takes up less processing power than dosbox's OPL emulator.

You don't deserve my sig.

Let's play some Zork!

(Someone needs to make a MMORPG text adventure... or multiplayer Sleuth!)
