Hi there, Today I made a logo for the project I am currently working on. I also tried to pick "CI colors" but haven't had any success with that yet... but here is the logo: {"name":"600682","src":"http:\/\/static.allegro.cc\/image\/cache\/9\/0\/905a72b91404d9c05f46793368faa050.gif","w":287,"h":158,"tn":"http:\/\/static.allegro.cc\/image\/cache\/9\/0\/905a72b91404d9c05f46793368faa050"} I am pretty satisfied with the "buttons" but not completely with the text. For example, the "a"s are a bit hard to read. Anyway, I am asking for opinions, rant, the goods, the bad, whatever!

Interesting fading effect on the text. Is it a custom font, or a font created dynamically/on-the-fly? -- |

The kerning looks a bit off too, especially around the 'x'. Also, I think the highlight falloff is a bit too low - as it is now, the higlighting gives the whole thing a sort of washed-out look rather than a shiny one (which I guess is what you were aiming for). -- |

I don't really like the fade effect, it seems like the text was printed on bad paper. Also I think the logo itself is a bit awkward.

My first thought: that's not what an exclamation mark looks like. |

Maybe it helps if I show the logo in context: On most of my sites, there is not much content, just a few links like in the example picture. So I tried to go for big links and buttons and generous free space. The font is called Nevis bold and it's free! BTW, I am using web 2.0 gradients to achieve the shiny look. Michael Jensen said: Also I think the logo itself is a bit awkward. Could you be a bit more specific? On a sidenote: I am not able to click on the "attach files" button in Firefox when writing a post. The Javascript error message is:

There's a lack of balance in your design. Basically it looks as though your "Exclamation Mark" phrase is hanging on the edge of a set of points. Not that its bad, because it does imply something like falling off a CLIFFFFFFFF!!!!!!!!! In a way its a good lack of balance. I think the colors need changing, like mixing white with green and black is not a good idea. Stay away from warm colors unless you plan on making it look crazy. I think blueish would help it and change the font to P.S. I got A's in design and drawing, though I never used it for anything pro.

I don't like it at all, IMO you should consider the idea of start from scratch again. ____ "The unlimited potential has been replaced by the concrete reality of what I programmed today." - Jordan Mechner. |

I think it looks pretty good. Thanks for your input! I really appreciate it. But I can't help it, I am getting really lost. Here's what I am at right now... {"name":"600692","src":"http:\/\/static.allegro.cc\/image\/cache\/d\/4\/d462f5efb93263a7a05baedb6f85e822.jpg","w":1000,"h":761,"tn":"http:\/\/static.allegro.cc\/image\/cache\/d\/4\/d462f5efb93263a7a05baedb6f85e822"} {"name":"600695","src":"http:\/\/static.allegro.cc\/image\/cache\/8\/4\/841e7f439a4167831363c935b2c52404.png","w":500,"h":182,"tn":"http:\/\/static.allegro.cc\/image\/cache\/8\/4\/841e7f439a4167831363c935b2c52404"} The more I do, the less sure I get of anything. Damn, I just want a cool web 2.0 logo...

I think they look fine. I guess the dots could could somehow represent an exclamation mark, but you could maybe make one out of many tiny dots creating an image. I'm sure theres some plugin for GIMP or PS that could make one. Maybe making a gif of your logo with a cool exclamation mark fading in and out effect. Also try inverting the color of your logo, you'll be surprised that it looks twisted and evil. The dots could represent the bits in the UTF-8 character '!'[1] (you'll only need 8 though). I don't know if that would be appropriate for the site though. References

The project is an attempt at a assessment software where users can create tests, let others take them online, grade and analyze them. To be honest, the name "ExclamationMark" was just a quick shot and a working title, because the leading (proprietary) software in this sector is called "QuestionMark". I don't really dig it anymore. Still fishing for a better name. Maybe something like this, I don't know: {"name":"600703","src":"http:\/\/static.allegro.cc\/image\/cache\/9\/a\/9a6d8388a09787d1099d586a45ecc7d7.gif","w":300,"h":124,"tn":"http:\/\/static.allegro.cc\/image\/cache\/9\/a\/9a6d8388a09787d1099d586a45ecc7d7"} {"name":"600704","src":"http:\/\/static.allegro.cc\/image\/cache\/7\/4\/7462060dcfe0fc4058e062986a542fdd.png","w":300,"h":124,"tn":"http:\/\/static.allegro.cc\/image\/cache\/7\/4\/7462060dcfe0fc4058e062986a542fdd"}
