Back in the day, before my time, "text adventures" were supposadly common and some of the most descriptive writing around. I read a thread on Google's groups, talking about "sound adventures" instead. Using sounds for a game, maybe voice/text input.

How would you incorporate gameplay into a "sound adventure"? ???

Maybe I'm not clear enough?

The screenshots are the best. It seems to be a puzzle game. What about for other types of games, though? Adventures? RPGs?

Edit:
Hmm..I see how it could be adapted for other types of games. If I wanted to do an adventure game, sound-scape(?), what about plain movement? Would that have to be computer controlled? (I'd put in something like, "Alright. What should I do now? 1 for Going to teh park..")

Funny, I just had roughly the same idea.
Well, basically all you'd need to do would be transform all text into samples (spoken text + sound effects), and do some sort of speech recognition to get user input. This way, a text adventure would become a sound adventure. You could even leave the screen completely blank.
Problems with this are:
1) Speech recognition is a rather tricky thing, especially when it needs to speaker-independent, and most available software is heavily copyright-protected.
2) You will get a massive amount of game data (full stereo audio samples, possibly quite long, for each "room", plus menus). You can reduce quite a lot using mp3 or something similar, though.
3) You need quite some people to do the voices, plus decent recording facilities; having no graphics will completely expose the sound, so that better be good.
So maybe go for a hybrid thing: Audio output, but keyboard input: Ask for decisions at certain points, and have the user answer through keypresses.

My idea would require an 8 point stereo sound system. The eight speakers would be at the corners of a cube and the player would be in the middle of the cube. The player would be in total darkness maneuvering a virtual flying vehicle. The player would hear noise from his vehicle and sounds from enemies from different directions, trying to aim at the enemies and blast them. The vehicle sound would echo from the ground, canyon walls or buildings. Could be creepy.

mm, make a usb gun that turns the sound input when you turn the gun, and somhow warp the sound for having two ears (i.e. you can hear better if you turn towards something). and and and...

that would be fun to make ;D

You could use text-voice sythisizing. Converting text to voice using sound sample has been done before. If you go to the www.gamedev.net site, sometimes they have a side banner that talks to you and you can type text into it and SHE will say them. pretty cool actually.

You could have the picture of peoples faces and have them talk. I'm not sure what kind of game you could make out of this.
